From July 20, urgently build resettlement areas for Muong Than people
Lai Chau - The Provincial People's Committee has just issued an order to urgently build a resettlement area for people in the Muong Than flood area.
On July 19, the Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1517/QD-UBND on issuing an Emergency Construction Order to arrange and stabilize population for people in areas affected by natural disasters in Muong Than commune.
The decision was issued immediately after the province announced the emergency situation of natural disasters in the area.
Previously, prolonged heavy rain caused flash floods and serious landslides in Muong Than commune, damaging many houses and infrastructure works, directly threatening people's lives and property.
According to the decision, a concentrated resettlement area will be built to arrange stable accommodation for about 24 households who have lost their homes. The project is implemented in Muong Than commune, assigning the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command to be the management and implementation unit.
The scale of the project includes leveling the ground of about 10,000m2, building level IV houses and essential infrastructure systems such as internal traffic roads, electricity supply, water supply and drainage and auxiliary works.
The total estimated investment is about 19 billion VND from the state budget and other legal capital sources.
The project is required to start construction from July 20, relevant units must complete the handover of the site and deploy construction immediately on the same day.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take the lead in inspecting and urging progress; the Department of Construction to inspect the quality of works; the Department of Finance to ensure funding sources and guide procedures for settlement and finalization.
The Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works is assigned to prepare a housing model design and hand it over to the Provincial Military Command on July 20.
The Provincial Land Fund Development Center completed the compensation and resettlement support plan and handed over the site before the commencement time.
Muong Than Commune People's Committee is responsible for coordinating site clearance, compiling a list of 24 households to be relocated and developing support plans according to regulations.
