Prime Minister Le Minh Hung: Dong Thap needs to identify a new growth model for breakthrough
Dong Thap - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung requested the province to identify a new growth model to promote room and create a foundation for breakthroughs.
On May 27, in Dong Thap, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung worked with the Standing Committee of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee on the socio-economic development situation, the "double-digit" growth target, public investment disbursement and the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW.
Attending the working session were comrades Members of the Party Central Committee: Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Dang Xuan Phong, Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Viet Hung, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son. On the side of Dong Thap province were Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and leaders of departments, branches and localities.

After listening to provincial leaders report on the implementation of socio-economic development targets, security and defense, the Prime Minister assessed that Dong Thap has a lot of potential in agriculture, processing industry, logistics and border trade economy. However, the Prime Minister also emphasized: Besides potential and advantages, Dong Thap still faces many difficulties such as: limited transport and logistics infrastructure; Q1/2026 growth only reached 6.14%; Disbursement of public investment has not met requirements; Economic restructuring is still slow...

On that basis, the Prime Minister requested Dong Thap to soon identify a new growth model based on 4 pillars: Science and Technology; Innovation; Digital Transformation and Promoting the advantages of high-tech agriculture. "At the same time, the province needs to promote agricultural and aquatic product processing industry, develop regional logistics and attract investment into key industrial parks," the Prime Minister emphasized. In addition, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung also requested Dong Thap to proactively remove backlog projects, promote public investment disbursement to create growth momentum, jobs and increase budget revenue.

In which, especially continuing to cut administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment and improve the operational efficiency of local authorities at 2 levels. The Prime Minister also suggested solutions for Dong Thap to apply to actual conditions to achieve this goal, such as improving the capacity of grassroots cadres, especially in the fields of: Land; Construction; Education; Health; Information technology and Finance and accounting.
Also at this working session, the Prime Minister requested the province to focus on social security and human resource development. Accordingly, in addition to promoting the focus on developing education, health, and social housing, Dong Thap needs to prioritize policies for commune-level officials and disadvantaged areas. In which, focus on the following contents: Strengthening free periodic health check-ups for people at least once a year; Accelerating the construction of 6 inter-level boarding schools in border areas; Developing social housing and rental housing suitable to actual needs; Improving the quality of human resources through cooperation with major universities.
Also at the working session, leaders of ministries and sectors responded to Dong Thap's proposals related to the implementation of the project to transfer fresh water through the Cho Gao canal to supply water to the Go Cong freshwater area; embankment protection projects in landslide areas; synchronous investment in the entire Hong Ngu-Tra Vinh expressway before 2030; deployment of the Information System for resolving administrative procedures according to the centralized model of ministries and sectors...

Giving opinions on some specific contents, the Prime Minister assigned ministries, agencies, and localities to study the proposed contents of Dong Thap province to coordinate handling and proactively implement tasks according to their authority; promptly report and propose to competent authorities issues beyond their authority.
Before the working session, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the working delegation offered incense to commemorate Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac - the father of President Ho Chi Minh at the National Special Relic Site, the Relic Site of Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac's Tomb located in Cao Lanh ward.
