Prime Minister Le Minh Hung attends the memorial service and burial of martyrs' remains in Quang Tri
Quang Tri - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the working delegation attended the memorial service and burial of 28 sets of remains of martyrs at Road 9 National Cemetery.
On the morning of May 23, at the National Martyrs' Cemetery of Road 9 (Quang Tri province), the memorial service and burial of 28 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos were solemnly held.
Attending the memorial service were Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the central working delegation, leaders of Quang Tri province and representatives of leaders of Khammouane and Savannakhet provinces (Laos).
In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered incense and flowers to express their boundless gratitude for the noble sacrifice of the heroic martyrs for their noble international duty.
To bring them back to their motherland, in the dry season of 2025 - 2026, Teams 584 and 589 (Quang Tri Provincial Military Command) have closely coordinated with the government and people of Lao tribes, overcoming many difficulties to search for and repatriate 28 sets of martyrs' remains.
On behalf of the local government, reading the eulogy, Mr. Le Van Bao - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee - affirmed that the Party, State and people are always infinitely grateful to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed themselves for national independence and Vietnam - Laos international friendship and solidarity.
Immediately after the memorial service, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense - moved the remains of martyr No. 1. Following that, the delegates successively moved 27 sets of remains of martyrs to the burial area.
Delegates of Party and State leaders, the Ministry of National Defense, provincial leaders, departments, agencies, branches, unions and agencies and units scattered flowers and dropped handfuls of soil onto the graves to commemorate the noble sacrifices of the martyrs.
It is known that Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery is a place that gathers nearly 11,000 graves of martyrs who are officers and soldiers of the main force, local soldiers, militia guerrillas and youth volunteers who fought and served in combat on the Road 9 front and the Lao battlefield.
