Thai Nguyen is recognized as a type I provincial-level administrative unit
Thai Nguyen - Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh has just signed and issued Decision No. 750/QD-BNV on classifying administrative units for Thai Nguyen province.
Accordingly, Thai Nguyen is recognized as a type I provincial-level administrative unit. From there, affirming its position as the economic, political, and cultural center of the Midlands and Northern Mountains region.
As of June 2026, total FDI investment in industrial parks in the province reached 8 billion USD.
This is the highest level of FDI attraction ever, helping Thai Nguyen continue to maintain its leading position in the country in attracting foreign investment in 2026.
Also in June 2026, the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Council approved a Resolution to establish 8 more commune-level urban administrative units (converting from communes to wards).
Thai Nguyen always maintains a high ranking in the Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI), Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and Innovation Index (PII).
Officially becoming a type I provincial-level administrative unit is an important basis to continue to be prioritized for allocating resources and synchronously investing in regional linkage infrastructure systems.
