In the new school year, students are supported by the state budget with at least 50% of the health insurance (HI) contribution level.

According to Vietnam Social Security, students studying at educational institutions under the national education system, including civil system students at Military and People's Police schools, are eligible to participate in HSSV health insurance, except for those who have participated in other groups.

According to current regulations, the student health insurance contribution level is 4.5% of the reference level. With the current reference level of 2.53 million VND/month, the contribution amount is 113,850 VND/month, equivalent to 1,366,200 VND/person/year.

In which, the state budget supports at least 50%, equivalent to 683.100 VND/person/year. The actual student contribution is 683.100 VND/person/year.

Students can choose to pay according to a cycle of 3, 6 or 12 months. Correspondingly, the amount to be paid is 170,775 VND, 341,550 VND or 683,100 VND. Depending on actual conditions, localities can provide additional support, helping to reduce costs for families.

Health insurance helps students enjoy medical examination and treatment benefits according to regulations, thereby reducing the cost that families have to pay themselves, especially in cases of long-term treatment or incurring large costs.

Students register to participate in health insurance at educational institutions or vocational education institutions where they are studying and follow instructions.

In 2026, many new regulations of the Health Insurance Law will be implemented, with changes aimed at expanding and better ensuring the rights of participants. Students and parents need to proactively learn about regulations and use health insurance cards properly so as not to miss benefits.

Participating fully in health insurance right from the beginning of the school year not only helps students be proactive in the face of health risks but also contributes to reducing financial pressure for families, helping them feel secure in studying and training.
