Lao Cai awards investment policy for 24 projects, total registered capital of more than 24,160 billion VND

Taking the Red River corridor as a driving force for development

On July 17, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee organized the 2026 Investment Promotion Conference with the theme "Lao Cai - Connecting Development - Green and Sustainable".

This is the first large-scale investment promotion conference since Lao Cai province was merged, attracting the participation of government leaders, central ministries and sectors, many international organizations, diplomatic missions, business associations and a large number of domestic and foreign investors.

Speaking to direct at the conference, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung assessed that Lao Cai is possessing many outstanding advantages in terms of geo-economic location, resources and development space, meeting the conditions to become a growth pole of the Midlands and Northern Mountains region, and at the same time a gateway connecting trade between Vietnam, ASEAN and the Southwest China region.

To effectively exploit the advantages, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed that Lao Cai prioritize attracting investment in 5 key areas including logistics and border gate economy; deep processing industry associated with renewable energy; international-class tourism and cultural industry; ecological agriculture applying high technology; modern urban development associated with building new rural areas rich in identity.

Along with that, central ministries and branches are requested to continue to accompany localities in implementing strategic infrastructure projects such as the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line, Sa Pa Airport and the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway expansion project; and at the same time promptly remove obstacles in mechanisms and policies.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that investing in Lao Cai not only brings economic benefits but also contributes to preserving the cultural identity of ethnic groups, improving the lives of people in mountainous areas and creating a foundation for sustainable development.

Commitment to accompany businesses

Affirming the determination to build Lao Cai into an attractive, safe and effective investment destination, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh said that after the merger, the province has a larger development space, richer resources and many new competitive advantages.

However, those potentials only truly become a driving force for growth when realized by effective investment projects and the sustainable development of the business community.

According to the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, in the context of investment capital flows increasingly shifting in a selective direction, the quality of government management, a transparent business environment, synchronous infrastructure and long-term development vision are decisive factors for the attractiveness of the locality.

With the motto "Successive companionship - Creating development", Lao Cai is committed to accompanying businesses in three aspects: publicizing and transparent planning information, mechanisms and policies; supporting throughout the project preparation and implementation process; and promptly removing arising difficulties and obstacles.

The success of businesses is the success of Lao Cai province," Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh emphasized and affirmed that immediately after the conference, the province will review all business recommendations, clearly assign responsibilities, and handle deadlines to create confidence for investors.

Awarding investment decisions of over 24,160 billion VND

The highlight of the conference was the ceremony to award investment policy approval decisions and investment registration certificates to 24 projects with a total registered capital of over 24,160 billion VND.

Projects focus on many fields that the province prioritizes attracting such as industrial park and cluster infrastructure development; energy; processing industry; mining; commercial housing; service and logistics infrastructure.

This is considered a positive sign, showing the confidence of the business community in Lao Cai's investment environment after the merger, and at the same time creating an important motivation for the locality to realize the goal of rapid, green and sustainable growth.

In addition to investment promotion activities, many businesses have donated funds to implement social security programs and contributed to the Provincial Rural Transport Development Fund.
