The Office of the National Steering Committee for Searching, Repatriating (TKQT) and Identifying Martyrs' Remains (Steering Committee) has just provided information related to key tasks in the coming time, related to the deployment of the "500-day and night campaign to promote the implementation of TKQT and identify martyrs' remains", towards the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027).

Based on the initial results and experiences in the implementation of the Campaign in the past time; to complete the targets of the 500-day and night Campaign set out, according to the Operation Program, the Operation Plan of the Steering Committee has identified a number of key contents and tasks for the coming time.

In which, research, develop, and complete legal normative documents on TKQT and identify martyrs' remains; focusing on the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution and guiding documents for implementation to ensure synchronicity, practicality, and suitability with the 2-level local government model, facilitating implementation.

The Steering Committee also requested Party committees and local authorities at all levels to pay attention to leading and directing the promotion of TKQT activities for martyrs' remains, focusing on domestic areas, areas with a lot of information about martyrs, especially information about collective martyrs.

In TKQT work, special attention is paid to 3 issues.

First, it is necessary to further promote and promote the effectiveness of information, propaganda, and information provision activities; apply science and technology, artificial intelligence to accelerate the speed and accuracy in recognizing, analyzing, and phân lạp data files about martyrs, to dissect, search for, and manage useful information fields for TKQT.

Based on available information, task forces are established to go to villages and hamlets, especially remote and isolated areas, areas with many martyrs' remains to meet with people, village elders, village heads, and elderly people to grasp information, verify, and conclude information to serve TKQT work.

Second, based on the results of reviewing, supplementing, and completing dossiers and lists of martyrs; and especially the results of verifying and concluding the area for mapping TKQT martyrs' remains of Steering Committees at all levels; the results of decoding symbols and unit symbols to organize scientific conferences to verify and conclude information, especially information about collective martyrs, for surveying and TKQT martyrs' remains.

Third, prioritize strengthening forces, means, and ensuring the operation of TKQT; promote local and specialized forces; and at the same time consolidate, supplement and propose the establishment of temporary teams to ensure the completion of tasks and achieve the targets of the Campaign.

Launching a peak period to deploy DNA collection of relatives of martyrs whose information has not been identified

The Steering Committee also clearly stated the content of directing the synchronous deployment of the organization of sampling, handover, preservation, and storage of martyrs' remains samples for graves that have not been identified for information in martyrs' cemeteries nationwide; in which organizing inter-sectoral working groups to inspect, grasp the situation, and urge localities to implement to ensure compliance with procedures and regulations.

Direct and coordinate DNA testing units to proactively develop plans and organize the receipt of martyrs' remains samples handed over by localities in accordance with Resolution No. 26/2026/NQ-CP and Decision No. 51/QD-BCĐQG.

Directing to accelerate the progress of collecting, analyzing, and comparing DNA for relatives of martyrs to integrate into the gene bank to identify martyrs' remains that lack information.

According to information from the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry is completing the Plan "Opening a peak period to deploy the collection of DNA of relatives of martyrs whose information has not been identified", expected to be deployed simultaneously nationwide from June 20, 2026 to July 20, 2027 with an estimated quantity of about 250,000 DNA samples of relatives of martyrs (Report No. 1161/BCA-C06 dated June 5, 2026 of the Ministry of Public Security).

Promote strengthening international cooperation in providing and exchanging information, artifacts, and memorabilia; sharing experiences, fostering and improving capacity, techniques and DNA testing technology to serve TKQT work and identify martyrs' remains; focusing on countries: Laos, Cambodia, USA, Australia, South Korea, China...
