Hanoi Police recommend fire prevention measures in hot weather
Hanoi Police recommends that people and businesses strengthen inspection of electrical systems and equip fire prevention and fighting equipment during the hot season.
The current heat wave is causing the temperature to rise. As of 1:00 PM on June 24th, the highest temperature at Lang station (Hanoi) was 39.6 degrees Celsius. At many other stations in the North and Central regions, temperatures reached 40 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), at noon on June 24, the temperature at Lang station (Hanoi) was 39.6 degrees Celsius.
Faced with prolonged hot weather, low humidity and increased risk of fire and explosion, functional forces recommend that people and businesses strengthen measures to ensure fire safety and firefighting.
On June 24, the Fire and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Hanoi City Police issued recommendations on measures to ensure fire safety and firefighting (PCCC) in the hot season.
According to PC07, prolonged hot weather makes dry materials and plants flammable. Along with that, increased electricity demand poses a risk of electrical short circuits, system overload, leading to fires and explosions in households, agencies and businesses.
For households, functional forces recommend that people regularly check the electrical system, electrical equipment and install appropriate protective equipment; do not use multiple high-capacity devices on the same socket at the same time to avoid overload.
People should not arbitrarily plug in electricity, do not charge electric vehicles, batteries and electronic devices overnight or when there is no supervision; turn off unnecessary electrical devices before going to bed or leaving the house.
Households should also not store gasoline, oil, gas and flammable substances in the house; arrange a safe worship and cooking area, have someone to watch over when burning votive paper or using gas stoves or electric stoves.
PC07 recommends that families not install iron cages, iron mesh to seal balconies and windows. In case they have been installed, it is necessary to arrange emergency exits, keep keys in easy-to-get places and prepare escape support vehicles such as ladders, demolition tools.
Each family should develop a escape plan, equip fire extinguishers, early fire warning equipment, water containers and guide members to use them proficiently.
When a fire occurs, people need to quickly inform those around them, call 114 or report the fire through the "Fire Alert 114" application, and use on-site fire fighting equipment and organize escape according to the prepared plan.
For agencies and businesses, PC07 proposed to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of regulations on fire prevention and fighting; regularly inspect safety in the production and business process and promptly overcome existing problems and shortcomings.
