National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man speaks at IPU-152 on peace and justice for future generations.

On the afternoon of April 16 local time, in Istanbul, Turkey, Politburo Member, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man delivered an important speech at the Joint Discussion Session of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) with the theme "Fourturing hope, ensuring peace and protecting justice for future generations".

Speaking at the General Discussion Session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the theme of the IPU-152 General Assembly expresses a message that is both topical and urgent as the world is witnessing increasing instability and conflict due to geopolitical competition, non-compliance with international law, use of force, destruction of essential infrastructure, causing much pain and loss to millions of people.

War, conflict, trade protectionism, polarization, zoning, and separation trends are increasingly clear, and non-traditional security challenges are multifacetedly impacting humanity. Breakthrough technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), although bringing many development opportunities, also pose new requirements for management and governance.

Facing that reality, the National Assembly Chairwoman said that there are still grounds to believe and hope in the future.

With the achievements of 40 years of Doi Moi, the National Assembly Chairwoman clearly stated that Vietnam is making efforts, determined to confidently and self-reliantly enter a new stage of development, with the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045.

With an independent, self-reliant, self-strengthening, peaceful, friendly, cooperative and development foreign policy, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam is and will continue to participate actively, proactively, and responsibly with friends and partners in solving common regional and international issues.

To overcome challenges together and take advantage of opportunities, the National Assembly Chairwoman requested the IPU and member Parliaments to continue to promote further, join hands to promote international cooperation and solidarity, strengthen the spirit of rule of law and support national initiatives for peace and development.

The National Assembly Chairwoman proposed strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, promoting dialogue, building trust and friendship between nations; preventing and resolving the root causes of conflict; respecting the basic principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

With that spirit, together with IPU members, we urgently call on relevant parties to strictly implement a ceasefire, continue peace negotiations to find a satisfactory and sustainable solution to the current conflicts" - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that no matter how great difficulties or challenges humanity faces, the spirit of solidarity, sharing and cooperation will help countries overcome them together to build a brighter future for future generations.
