National Assembly Chairman attends the opening ceremony of IPU-152 General Assembly
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attends the opening ceremony of the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) General Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey, on the evening of April 15.
The IPU-152 General Assembly's theme is "Fourturing Hope, Ensuring Peace and Protecting Justice for Future Generations".
In a message to the IPU-152 General Assembly, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized the central role of parliaments in transforming multilateral commitments into specific actions at the national level, thereby strengthening the effectiveness of the multilateral system.
The United Nations Secretary-General emphasized international cooperation, dialogue and inclusive governance as key factors to respond to global challenges; proposed strengthening partnerships between the United Nations and parliaments to enhance accountability and people's trust.
Speaking to welcome the IPU-152 General Assembly, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus affirmed that the IPU-152 General Assembly is an event of historical importance with a very topical theme, not only at the global level but directly related to important developments in the region.
The international community has a common responsibility in building peace and justice for future generations, not only through statements, initiatives, and ideas, but more importantly through actions towards the people.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, IPU President Tulia Ackson expressed concern about the increasing inequality, as well as a serious warning about the climate crisis and its long-term consequences for the future of humanity.
She affirmed the central role of parliaments in building consensus, leading policies and shaping global solutions, and called on parliaments to identify three important orientations: promoting inclusion, persistent dialogue and action with a long-term vision for future generations, thereby strengthening multilateralism with the United Nations playing a central role.
The IPU-152 General Assembly will meet from April 15-19, 2026. According to the program, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will deliver an important speech at the General Discussion Session of the IPU-152 General Assembly, conveying Vietnam's major messages on peace, justice and sustainable development for future generations.
