The Minister of Health proposes solutions to prevent the increase of fake drugs
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan stated that it is necessary to strengthen the management of drug quality from production, circulation, distribution to retail.
On August 21, the Committee for Culture and Society coordinated with the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, the Committee for Petition and Supervision to organize a session to explain the implementation of legal policies on the prevention of fake drugs and fake foods.
Summarizing the implementation of policies and laws on the prevention and control of fake drugs and fake foods, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that the Government has issued or submitted to the National Assembly to issue many legal documents related to the prevention of fake drugs and fake foods.
The work of preventing fake drugs and fake foods has the participation of many ministries/sectors and localities.
A representative of the Ministry of Health said that in the coming time, the situation of illegal transportation of goods across the border, fraud of origin, and foreign goods impersonating Vietnamese origin is still complicated.
The subjects will continue to apply advanced technology such as anti-counterfeit stamps, fake QR codes, or sophisticated packaging to deceive authorities and consumers.
Therefore, ministries, branches and authorities at all levels need to focus on leadership and direction with the goal of fighting, preventing, and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.
Through reports from ministries, branches and surveys by the Standing Committee of the Committee for Culture and Social Affairs in recent times, it can be seen that the legal system on basic food safety is adequate but also has many limitations, especially the system of guiding documents.
At the explanation session, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that according to the provisions of the Pharmacy Law, manufacturers must meet good production standards and have a standard testing room and must ensure that 100% of newly approved drug shipments are shipped.
Drugs in circulation must be randomly sampled by the state quality management agency for quality testing at state testing facilities.
The testing of drug samples complies with the principle of risk management, in which priority is given to subjects who are drugs at risk during circulation and drugs produced by manufacturers with a history of quality violations.
In response to the forecast of an increase in counterfeit drugs in the coming time, especially the increasing trend on e-commerce platforms, Minister Dao Hong Lan said that the Ministry of Health has increased coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Science and Technology to have solutions to focus on this field.
Because the domestic pharmaceutical market is developing strongly, the Minister of Health also stated that it is necessary to strengthen the management of drug quality from production, circulation, distribution to retail.
Along with that, the Ministry of Health strengthens coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, border gate channels and other relevant agencies to receive information on the situation of counterfeit drugs in the world, and illegal import activities of counterfeit drugs across the border.
