Military Region 9 General Staff receives First-class Fatherland Protection Medal

On July 3, the General Staff of Military Region 9 held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Traditional Day (July 5, 1946 - July 5, 2026) and receive the First-class Fatherland Protection Medal.

80 years ago, after the Central Party Committee issued the directive "Resistance war to build a nation" and organized the whole country into 9 war zones, War Zone 8 was directed to immediately build the Military Ministry and War Zone 9 was also directed to build the Advisory Committee.

On July 5, 1946, the Staff Agency of War Zone 9 was established to replace the Staff Committee and this day became the traditional day of the General Staff and the Staff Department of the armed forces of Military Region 9.

The birth of the first advisory body in the Mekong Delta region is a historical milestone, marking a breakthrough in the organization, force and military art of the army and people of the Mekong Delta.

To recognize the feats of arms and outstanding achievements in 80 years of building, fighting and growing up, the Party, State and Army have awarded many noble awards; especially, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Traditional Day, the General Staff of Military Region 9 was honored to be awarded the First-class Fatherland Protection Medal by the Party and State.

Lieutenant General Ho Van Thai - Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of Military Region 9 proposed that the General Staff and the General Staff of the armed forces of Military Region 9 continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the resolutions and directives of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense on military and national defense tasks.
