Vam Lung Wharf, Ca Mau - the end point of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Road
Ca Mau - From April 22 to 24, Ca Mau province will hold a ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking as a special national relic of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Road.
This is one of the activities associated with the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) of Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province.
Through this activity, it also contributes to promoting and educating traditions; showing gratitude to policy families and families with meritorious services; honoring historical witnesses who have made many contributions to the independence, freedom, national reunification and socio-economic achievements after 50 years of unification.

Preparing for the ceremony to receive the Certificate of the ranking of the special national relic of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Road in Ca Mau province, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Nguyen Minh Luan and leaders of departments and branches surveyed the current status of the Ben Vam Lung National Monument on the Ho Chi Minh Sea route and agreed on upgrading, restoring and repairing the works according to the proposal of the cultural sector and the locality. Accordingly, items such as monuments, reliefs, fences, weapons receiving models, yards, technical infrastructure, etc. will be upgraded and repaired with an estimated cost of over 500 million VND.

Overcoming dangerous obstacles and thunderstorms, the Ho Chi Minh Sea Road was formed. In October 6, the first ship carrying 30 tons of weapons arrived at Vam Lung port. From then to December 1962, there were 4 trips bringing 111 tons of weapons to Ca Mau.
On October 11, 6, the first ship of the "numberless fleet", called "Phuong Dong 1", carrying 30 tons of weapons from Do Son wharf, Hai Phong, opened its route to the South. On October 16, 1962, the Phuong Dong 1 ship commanded by captain Le Van Mot and statesman Bong Van Dia passed thousands of nautical miles under the surveillance and surrounding of enemy ships but still safely docked at Vam Lung wharf. This is a ship of the "Unnumbered Ship sufferers" opening the strategic transport route on the East Sea - the Ho Chi Minh Sea.
After the event of the "Phuong Dong 1" ship successfully arriving at the wharf, the "Phuong Dong 2" and "Phuong Dong 3" ships continued to dock at Vam Lung Wharf to bring hundreds of tons of weapons from the North to support the Southern battlefield. By the end of 1970, Vam Lung Wharf had welcomed over 70 ships with more than 4,400 tons of weapons and ammunition.
Thanks to the rugged terrain, along with a network of canals, above are mangrove forests and mangrove forests, creating ideal conditions for revolutionary soldiers to easily transport and hide weapons. In addition, the protection and protection of the people of Rach Goc is like "irons, bronze city" to protect the revolution. Thanks to that, during more than 10 years of operation (1962 - 1972), our facilities have been safely protected, even though this place is not far from the enemy's military area in Nam Can.

The historical site of Vam Lung Wharf is also associated with the birth of the military unit, nicknamed "Department 962" (established on September 19, 1962) with the task of protecting the safety of ships entering and leaving the wharf, secretly receiving, hiding weapons and transporting weapons to liberation army units to serve the battle. Group 962, later Regiment 962, was twice awarded the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the State.
On November 10, 2010, Vam Lung Wharf was recognized as a national historical - cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
