Vietnam Medical Union strengthens investment in resources for union member development

The Vietnam Medical Union has just issued a plan to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions directly under the Vietnam Medical Union in 2026.

According to the plan, the Vietnam Medical Union strives to develop an actual increase of 500 union members by the end of 2026; strive for at least 95% of workers working in organizations and units that do not receive 100% salary from the state budget, state-owned enterprises to be union members; strive for at least 90% of workers working in units, organizations, and enterprises outside the state sector to be union members.

In addition, for foreign workers working in enterprises at grassroots trade unions, if they have a labor contract of 12 months or more, they should be considered for admission to the Vietnam Trade Union according to the provisions of the Trade Union Law, ensuring the principle of voluntariness and having a application to join.

One of the solutions raised by the Vietnam Medical Union in the plan is to increase investment in resources for union member development.

Accordingly, the Vietnam Medical Union arranges a team of full-time trade union officials to provide technical support to lower-level trade unions to implement the plan to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions.

Focus on fostering and training on content, methods, and skills to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions for trade union officials, collaborators, and volunteers at all levels of health trade unions, in which focus on fostering grassroots trade union officials.

Increase investment in financial resources for union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions, in which specific financial solutions are needed to ensure sufficient funding for union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions; have policies to foster, support, and encourage trade union officials, collaborators, and volunteers working on union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions.

The Vietnam Medical Union will strengthen the inspection and supervision of the implementation of the union member development plan of grassroots trade unions; propose appropriate forms of encouragement and reward to promptly encourage collectives and individuals to actively implement union member development work; encourage units with trade union financial resources to ensure self-sufficiency to have appropriate forms of reward for exceeding the union member development plan...

Still according to the plan, the Vietnam Medical Union will strengthen direction throughout the system; innovate the content and methods of propaganda, mobilization, and methods of gathering and developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; improve the quality of activities of grassroots trade unions, contributing to gathering a large number of workers to participate in trade unions.
