Da Nang Workers' Sports Festival 2026 creates a connecting space and improves physical fitness
Da Nang - The City Labor Federation opens the 2026 Da Nang City Workers, Civil Servants and Laborers Sports Festival.
Spreading the spirit of training in Workers' Month
Responding to Workers' Month and Action Month on occupational safety and health in 2026, on April 24, the Da Nang City Labor Federation opened the Sports Festival for workers, civil servants, and laborers with a wide scale, attracting a large number of union members to participate.
In addition to creating a playground for union members and workers, the Sports Festival also aims to widely spread the spirit of "Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland", associated with the campaign "All people practice physical exercise following Uncle Ho's example".
With 5 sports including badminton, table tennis, pickleball, tug of war and men's mini football, the Sports Festival is designed in a popular, accessible direction, suitable for many different working groups.
Notably, the competition contents all have a high team element, creating conditions for workers not only to train physical strength but also to strengthen cohesion in the collective.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation said: This year's sports festival is identified as a key activity in the worker care chain of Workers' Month.
According to Mr. Dai, as material life gradually improves, the need to improve the spiritual life, especially the physical health of workers, is increasingly clear.
The Trade Union not only cares with direct support, but also must create an environment for workers to improve their quality of life. Sports festivals are such an approach," Mr. Dai emphasized.
From mass playgrounds to sustainable values
A notable point of the 2026 Sports Festival is the widespread participation of grassroots trade unions, from commune and ward levels to businesses and industrial parks. This helps activities not to be confined to the scope of the movement but become a spreading event.
Mr. Le Huu Tai, a trade union member of Da Nang Mental Hospital belonging to Lien Chieu ward trade union, participating in tug-of-war, shared that he and his colleagues had been preparing to practice for many weeks before. “Initially, I only thought about participating for fun, but the more I practiced, the more excited I became. Tug of war not only requires strength but also very close coordination. When the whole team shouts the rhythm together, puts in effort together, the feeling is very different from working normally,” Mr. Hung said.
According to Mr. Tai, the most important thing that the Sports Festival brings is not the prize, but the opportunity for workers to "change the atmosphere", relieve pressure after stressful working hours. "Many brothers work in the same workshop but have few opportunities to interact. Through the Sports Festival, people understand each other better, and work is also more convenient," Mr. Tai said.
Reality shows that activities like the Sports Festival, if maintained regularly, will create long-term values. Not only contribute to improving physical fitness, reducing the risk of occupational diseases, but also help form exercise habits, improve morale and labor productivity.
From a business perspective, this is also an important factor in building a positive working environment. A healthy, cohesive collective will be the foundation for improving productivity and competitiveness in an increasingly demanding market context.
The 2026 Da Nang City Workers, Civil Servants and Laborers Sports Festival is therefore not just limited to the meaning of the movement. It reflects a new approach in trade union work – shifting from simple care to creating conditions for workers to develop comprehensively.
When sports become a part of workers' lives, when each worker is more aware of health training, the values that the Sports Festival brings will not stop at one season, but may last throughout their labor journey.
