According to the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor, after the merger of provinces (Kien Giang and An Giang), the province currently has a total of more than 124,300 workers and civil servants. Of which, union members have nearly 114,900 union members; there are 823 grassroots unions (CDCS), Trade Unions; there is 1 Rach Gia Ward Union and 1 Phu Quoc Special Zone Union.

The team of full-time and part-time union officials from the province to the grassroots level has been constantly improved and consolidated in both quantity and quality. The quality and effectiveness of Trade Union activities have increased, basically closely following the programs and plans of the higher-level trade union and the tasks of the unit and enterprise to deploy and guide union members and employees to participate in Trade Union activities.

Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen Nhat Tien said that the Provincial Federation of Labor has organized many propaganda, education activities, and care for the material and spiritual life of cadres, union members, and workers. Typical examples include flower offering and incense offering at the President Ton Duc Thang Temple; Visiting and giving gifts to 34 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (each gift worth 1 million VND in cash); visiting and giving gifts to 6 former leaders of the Provincial Federation of Labor through the ages.

Visit and give 200 gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances at 10 enterprises (worth 1 million VND/gift); organize "Union Meals" at 5 enterprises for more than 2,300 union members and workers to participate.

According to reports from the grassroots trade unions, more than 13,000 union members and employees attended the Union Meal with a total cost of more than 840 million VND. Support 7 Trade Union Shelters, each worth 50 million VND; organize voluntary blood donation at 3 enterprises with 317 workers and employees participating. Visit, give gifts and work with 10 enterprises on the situation of production, business, labor, employment, income; grasp the aspirations, care for the spiritual and material life of union members and employees; acknowledge the difficulties and recommendations of enterprises. Thereby, promoting the role and responsibility of the Trade Union organization in accompanying businesses, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations.

Grasping the thoughts and aspirations, focusing on developing union members

Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor Do Tran Thinh said that from now until the end of the year, trade unions at all levels will focus on implementing the program with the theme "Focus on developing union members; participating in building a clean and strong Party".

The Provincial Federation of Labor sets targets such as actual development of an increase of 8,000 union members; at least 85% of enterprises and units with qualified union organizations according to the provisions of law are negotiated by trade unions, signed collective labor agreements according to the provisions of law; organize labor conferences and periodic dialogues.

Dialogue and negotiate with employers to adjust the value of shift meals at 9 enterprises according to regulations; 18 business unions negotiated to support shift meals (first time). There are 35 enterprise-level trade unions that have signed new collective labor agreements; 200 enterprise trade unions organize labor conferences; 180 trade unions organize periodic dialogues...

The Provincial Federation of Labor will focus on performing well the task of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers, especially implementing solutions to facilitate the grassroots trade union to conduct negotiations and collective bargaining, focusing on wages, bonuses, working hours, rest hours, and occupational safety and hygiene. Strengthen information gathering, listening to feedback from the grassroots, grasping the aspirations of union members and employees, the situation of labor relations, production, business, implementation of policies and regimes of enterprises... to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees" - Mr. Thinh said.
