Dialogue to remove labor safety bottlenecks in the informal sector

On May 13, the Labor Safety and Health Council (OSH) of Lang Son province organized a dialogue conference on OSH work in the province in 2026.

At the conference, the report of functional agencies pointed out that the implementation of policies in the past time has closely followed reality but there are still many gaps.

The identification and control of occupational accident and disease risks has not been thoroughly implemented, especially in high-risk industries such as construction, chemicals, electricity, minerals, agriculture and environmental sanitation.

Many challenges in labor management are raised, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises and household businesses.

Functional agencies admit that controlling and applying safety measures for informal workers and seasonal workers is still a difficult problem in the area.

Revolving around a series of obstacles, delegates attending proposed many pressing issues.

In which, the focus is on the quality of occupational safety training, transparency in declaration, accident investigation, as well as environmental monitoring and health care.

Policy regimes and accident insurance for vulnerable workers and people without labor relations (labor contracts) have also become a "hot" topic to be dissected.

Answering directly at the conference, members of the Provincial OSH Council clarified issues under their authority; and at the same time recorded recommendations beyond the framework to report to superiors for consideration and direction.

The dialogue is considered an important stepping stone for workers, businesses and state agencies to find common ground.

Through this, the parties expect to promptly remove difficulties in the implementation process, especially adapting to new regulations after localities switch to a 2-level government model, towards the goal of reducing accidents and occupational diseases.
