Lao Cai Trade Union dialogues and removes many petitions from workers

On May 7, the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation organized a conference to meet and directly dialogue with union members and workers of the Lao Cai Ward Trade Union.

The conference attracted a large number of union members and workers from grassroots trade unions in the area to attend with many practical questions, focusing on policies, labor rights and the accompanying role of trade union organizations...

At the dialogue, many union members and workers representing grassroots trade unions expressed concern about the situation of late payment of social insurance, maternity benefits for female workers, support regimes when losing jobs, labor accidents as well as solutions for grassroots trade unions to truly become a support for workers.

Some opinions also mentioned that the establishment of trade unions in non-state-owned enterprises still faces many obstacles; many workers do not clearly understand their rights when participating in trade union organizations.

Before the recommendations, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem - Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation directly exchanged and answered many contents under her authority.

According to Ms. Nhiem, trade union organizations must not only stop at visiting and supporting during holidays and Tet, but must truly go deep into protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers.

Where workers' rights are affected, the trade union must speak out and accompany," Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem emphasized.

Regarding insurance regimes, representatives of Lao Cai Provincial Social Insurance have answered specifically many questions about the rights of union members when businesses owe or late pay social insurance, the responsibility of trade unions in supervising the implementation of labor policies and legal support channels for workers.

According to functional units, many cases of workers being owed salaries and insurance have been coordinated by the trade union with functional sectors to protect their rights.

Trade unions at all levels are also promoting free legal advice so that workers understand and protect their legitimate rights.

Also at the conference, representatives of departments and agencies exchanged views on regulations related to labor contracts, wages, occupational safety and health, and policies to support workers in the current period.

Speaking to answer, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy - Secretary of the Party Committee of Lao Cai ward highly appreciated the bridge role of the trade union organization in caring for workers' lives, contributing to building harmonious and stable labor relations in the locality and businesses.

Secretary of the Lao Cai Ward Party Committee said that the locality will continue to create favorable conditions for businesses to operate stably, develop production, and ensure jobs and income for workers in the area.

Notably, within the framework of the conference, the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation also coordinated with the Lao Cai Provincial Police to organize propaganda and dissemination of legal education on drug prevention and control for union members and workers.

Through propaganda content, union members and workers are updated with legal regulations related to drug prevention and control; identifying new types of drugs, and the harmful effects of drugs on health, life and security and order.
