An Giang Trade Union comes to boarding houses, listening to workers' thoughts

The program "Coming to Workers' Boarding Houses" is organized to visit, encourage, and listen to the thoughts of workers living and working in boarding houses. This is also an opportunity for the Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) to send useful information about policies, laws and practical rights directly related to the lives and jobs of workers.

At the program, the Decision to establish the Truong Thanh Workers' Boarding House Self-Management Group model at Hoa Loc hamlet, Thanh Loc commune, An Giang province was also announced and awarded.

Chairman of An Giang Provincial Labor Federation Do Tran Thinh said that workers when returning from work gather together in the boarding area, to settle down, they really need a decent and safe living space. The Provincial Labor Federation, through propaganda and mobilization, has officially established the Self-Management Group of Truong Thanh Workers' Boarding Houses and implemented the model of warm and meaningful boarding houses, saying no to negativity and social evils. The self-management group will help connect workers living in boarding houses with each other, and is also the extended arm of the Trade Union.

Right in the boarding house area, we work together to maintain security and order, reminding each other to live civilized lives, not to let social evils have a place to crowd. We hope that the boarding house area will not only have lights on but also warm human warmth, each room will not only have the sound of a fan but also greetings and sharing. Each worker must not only work well but also live beautifully and responsibly with the community," Mr. Thinh emphasized.

Mr. Thinh also affirmed that the Trade Union will always accompany and link with the government and businesses to support when workers have difficulties and protect their rights when affected. But for this model to develop and be sustainable, it is the workers who decide.

Each person starts with very small things such as maintaining general hygiene, complying with punctuality, not getting involved in social evils, and most importantly, not being indifferent to each other. A good boarding house will help us feel secure in working and sticking together for a long time. Hopefully, Truong Thanh boarding house will become a bright spot of warmth, affection, and safety in the hearts of workers," Mr. Thinh expressed.

Mr. Le Thanh Hoa - representative of the boarding house, Head of the Workers' Boarding House Self-Management Group - said that the boarding house has about 150 rooms with more than 300 workers, at times more than 400. The boarding house has been operating for about 10 years and has received the trust of workers working in Thanh Loc industrial park.

Workers returning from work tired, they need to rest, if there is singing causing noise, it is not advisable. At about 9-10 am, I remind everyone to maintain general security and order. I ask everyone to be highly vigilant, property such as cars and phones must be kept, not to let thieves take advantage of loopholes to steal. At my boarding house, the security situation is quite good. I arrange to create a comfortable living environment, create beautiful landscapes, cool trees, fish ponds, parks with tables and chairs for everyone to sit and play...", Mr. Hoa shared.

Ms. Trinh Thi Trang said: "I live here and feel reassured, the boarding house is not only spacious and airy, building a landscaped space for everyone to feel comfortable, but also quite secure. I feel reassured when I go to work, and when I return to the boarding room, I also feel relaxed and more comfortable, without having to worry. In particular, the Trade Union also organizes a program to visit workers' boarding areas, singing, interacting, playing games and receiving many gifts, everyone is excited to participate".
