HCMC shaping the future on a new foundation, aspiring to reach global level
Ho Chi Minh City is shaping the future on the basis of new space and resources, aiming to become a smart, modern, green-growing global city.
Towards a global city
On the morning of April 20, a national scientific conference with the theme "The Great Spring Victory of 1975 with the New Development Era of the Vietnamese People" was held in Ho Chi Minh City. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of National Defense in coordination with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Speaking at the workshop, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen emphasized that exactly 50 years ago, the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign ended successfully, completely liberating the South and unifying the country. That is a brilliant milestone in the history of the Vietnamese people's fight against foreign invaders, opening an era of independence, freedom and moving towards building socialism.
That great victory is the crystallization of the spirit of solidarity, indomitable will and burning aspiration of the entire nation under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and beloved President Ho Chi Minh - Mr. Nguyen Van Nen affirmed.
The further the time went, the more significant and tall the Great Spring 1975 was. Ho Chi Minh City - the city named after Uncle Ho - always remembers and appreciates the value of peace, and is deeply grateful for the contributions of many generations of ancestors who sacrificed their blood and bones to protect the Fatherland.
Inheriting that heroic tradition, over the past half century, the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City have made continuous efforts to work with the whole country to build and protect the Fatherland, successfully implementing the goals of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nen said that Ho Chi Minh City is focusing all its efforts on implementing strategic breakthrough tasks such as developing infrastructure, promoting science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, improving the quality of human resources and streamlining the political apparatus.
The city aims to become a civilized, modern city by 2030, a pioneer in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, with an outstanding position in Southeast Asia.
By 2045, Ho Chi Minh City strives to reach the level of major cities in the world - a global city, attractive, sustainable development with high quality of life and extensive economic integration.
With that spirit, Ho Chi Minh City is proactively reshaping the future in a new development space, mobilizing new resources, and flexibly applying the major policies and guidelines of the Central Government.
The city aims for smart, modern, dynamic development, green, sustainable growth and rich cultural identity; at the same time, constantly expanding the space of a civilized society, integrating and crystallizing the progressive values of humanity.
"We deeply recognize our role and responsibility in the overall development of the country. Each cadre and party member in the political system must always be clearly aware of their mission, live, study, work and devote themselves to be worthy of the noble sacrifice of many previous generations - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nen further emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City is continuing to consolidate and promote the great national unity bloc, building an increasingly expanded and widespread Ho Chi Minh cultural space; at the same time, mobilizing maximum resources to invest in developing the city worthy of the trust and expectations of the whole country.
The Great Victory of 1975 - The driving force for the rising era
Speaking at the workshop, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that over the past 50 years, promoting the spirit of the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975, the entire Party, people, and army have made efforts to build an increasingly comprehensive and developing country, achieving many great achievements of historical significance.
In particular, Vietnam has become a bright spot in the global economy; people's lives have been constantly improved; national defense and security have been maintained; its international position and prestige have been increasingly consolidated.
The Party's leadership role continues to be affirmed as a solid foundation for the new era of national development - the era of peace, prosperity, progress and integration.
According to Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee Nguyen Trong Nghia, the spirit of solidarity, the will to self-reliance, and the determination to win are precious traditions, a great endogenous strength, continuing to encourage the whole nation to enter a new era with the aspiration to rise up.
From there, our country can reach breakthrough development steps, establish a national position in the international arena, create a foundation to become a developed, high-income industrial country by 2045.
The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee also suggested that the delegates focus on analyzing more clearly the stature and historical significance of the Great Victory in Spring 1975; draw valuable lessons to apply to the current cause of national construction and defense.
In particular, it is necessary to clearly understand that the 1975 victory is a premise and an important driving force for the development of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular in the new era.
