Dong Bac Corporation proposes bauxite exploitation associated with security and defense tasks
Quang Ninh - Dong Bac Corporation is implementing procedures to prepare for investment in bauxite mining projects associated with security and defense tasks in the Central Highlands.
According to the representative of Dong Bac Corporation, under the Ministry of National Defense, headquartered in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, the investment location of the Project "Bocit - Alumina - aluminum Complex associated with the implementation of national defense and security tasks in Dak Nong" is located in the communes of Dak N'Drung and Nam N'Jang, in the Dak Nong 3 mine cluster, Dak Song district, Dak Nong province.
The total investment for phase 1 is expected to be VND 24,341 billion; phase 2 is VND 43,774 billion.
In phase 1 (from 2025 to 2030), investment will be invested in the construction of a complex including: an ore processing factory, with a capacity of 2.5 million tons/year and an Alumina factory, with a capacity of 1 million tons/year.
Phase 2 (from 2031 to 2056), will build an additional ore processing factory, with a capacity of 2.5 million tons/year and increase the capacity of the Alumina factory to 2 million tons/year; build a new aluminum electrolyte factory, with a capacity of 300,000 tons/year and a wind power plant, with a capacity of 500 MW.
The project's operation period is over 30 years.
According to calculations, in both phases, the project will create stable jobs for about 2,500 people, and contribute about 6,000 billion VND to the annual budget.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tran Thanh - Head of Construction Investment Department, Dong Bac Corporation - the project has been approved by the Ministry of National Defense to be invested in, and at the same time, there is a document requesting the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee to prioritize the selection of Dong Bac Corporation as the investor to implement the project. Currently, the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee is conducting an appraisal of the application for approval of the investment policy and approval of the investor of Dong Bac Corporation.
Dak Nong 3 mine cluster is located in an area with a strategic location, important in terms of national defense and security, located close to the border in the main defensive direction of Dak Nong province. Therefore, the implementation of the above project by Dong Bac Corporation not only promotes sustainable growth associated with a green - circular economy, but also contributes to building a solid defense zone, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands in the spirit of the conclusions and resolutions of the Politburo and the Government's Mineral Planning..." - Mr. Thanh said.
Meanwhile, the Corporation was recognized by the Prime Minister as an enterprise directly serving national defense and security; the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense (QUTW - BQP) has decided to issue the military badge of the 19th Corps and establish 3 Engineering Brigades of reserve construction and encouragement works. In the coming time, if the Ministry of National Defense assigns additional military and defense tasks combined with economic tasks in Dak Nong 3 Cluster, the unit will propose that the QUTW - Ministry of National Defense establish 01 more Reserve Engineering Brigade to encourage the implementation of tasks in the Central Highlands. At that time, the Corporation will have favorable conditions to maximize its strengths, contributing to maintaining the defensive posture of the strategic border area, contributing significantly to strengthening defense potential.
With more than 30 years of experience in the field of mineral exploration, exploitation and processing, the Corporation has a team of elite, highly disciplined human resources (700 mining engineers, underground construction, geology, geology, mineral selection...; over 800 bachelors in economics, finance, quality management...; more than 7,000 skilled technical workers in the field of exploitation and operation of vehicles, machinery, construction equipment), and a modern equipment system.
