General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife begin state visit to Russia
General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, began a state visit to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.
After more than 9 hours of flight, at 2:25 pm on September 7 (local time), the special plane carrying General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived at Vnukovo International Airport, Moscow capital, starting a state visit to Russia from September 7 - 9 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to VNA.
The welcoming ceremony at Vnukovo International Airport, the Russian side included Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, Director of the Protocol Department, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Vietnamese side included Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi and his wife, officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia warmly welcomed General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife and the high-level Vietnamese delegation on a state visit to Russia.
At Vnukovo International Airport, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko welcomed and greeted General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife at the foot of the aircraft stairs.
Next, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife moved on the red carpet to the honor position. The military band sang the Vietnamese National Anthem and the Russian National Anthem. After that, General Secretary and President To Lam saluted the Russian Military Flag, conducted a parade of the honor guard and witnessed the honor guard parade.
According to the program, immediately after arriving in Moscow, General Secretary and President To Lam received Chairman of the Communist Party of Russia Gennady Ziuganov; received the Veterans Association and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association; met with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
Vietnam and Russia have a traditional friendly relationship, which has been painstakingly nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries. The relationship between the two countries has high political trust, which has been tempered over time and historical changes. Over the past time, the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has continued to develop dynamically and achieved many positive results.
The visit affirms the consistency, inheritance and high appreciation of the Party and State of Vietnam for the traditional friendly relations and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia. This is also an opportunity for the highest leaders of the two countries to exchange in-depth views on strategic issues, establish long-term visions and create new milestones and new political momentum to comprehensively enhance Vietnam-Russia relations, linking bilateral cooperation with the development goals of each country in the new period.
