Trade union supports female workers paralyzed after accident in Lao Cai

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien is a trade union member, a worker in the garment production line of Vina KNF International Co., Ltd. (Tran Yen commune, Lao Cai province).

In the family, she is the main breadwinner, the main source of income to take care of life and raise 3 children of school age.

An unexpected incident occurred on a holiday. While helping her husband load and unload construction iron, Ms. Lien unfortunately fell from the 3rd floor to the ground.

The accident caused her spinal cord injury, fracture of 2 vertebrae, causing complete spinal cord paralysis, loss of movement and sensation from the navel down to both legs. Not only that, both of her heel bones were also broken.

From a woman who still worked and took care of her family, Ms. Lien had to lie paralyzed in bed, in need of care and treatment for a long time.

The accident made the family's already difficult life even more difficult. Her husband does not have a stable job, while her three children are still of school age.

Immediately after grasping Ms. Lien's situation, the Trade Union of Vina KNF International Co., Ltd. reported to the Board of Directors, and at the same time launched a campaign for officials, employees, union members, and workers in the company to join hands to support.

The call was quickly responded to by the collective of workers.

From the Board of Directors to each union member and employee, they contributed a small part to help colleagues facing upheavals. After a short period of mobilization, the Trade Union and company employees raised 20 million VND.

On September 8, representatives of the Board of Directors and the Trade Union of Vina KNF International Co., Ltd. came to the hospital to visit and encourage Ms. Lien and her family.

The greetings and sharing of colleagues have become a source of spiritual encouragement for female workers facing major upheavals.
