Nghe An youth cook rice to support relatives of martyrs taking DNA samples

On June 27, information from Dai Dong Commune Youth Union said that during the peak period of collecting DNA samples to identify martyrs, youth union members organized to cook and donate more than 200 free meals to relatives of martyrs who came to complete procedures.

From June 25 to July 1, Nghe An implemented a peak period of collecting 22, 221 DNA samples of relatives of martyrs in 130 communes and wards throughout the province, with 7 centralized collection points, including Dai Dong commune. The activity is part of the "500 days and nights" campaign to search, repatriate and identify martyrs' remains, towards the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day.

From early morning, the sample collection point in Dai Dong commune was crowded with relatives of martyrs from many localities. To support the process of procedures, youth union members were mobilized to guide declaration, arrange order, and at the same time support the elderly and people with difficult travel to move to the sample collection area.

Not only supporting procedures, union members also prepared drinking water, milk, cakes and especially more than 200 free lunches to give directly to relatives of martyrs while waiting. Simple but warm meals help reduce fatigue in hot weather.

Many relatives of martyrs were moved by the dedication of the young force. Some people from dozens of kilometers away still tried to reach the receiving point hoping to find the identity of their sacrificed relatives, now warmed their hearts with the sharing of the community.

According to a representative of the Dai Dong Commune Youth Union, the activity not only contributes to technical support, but also demonstrates the responsibility of youth in the "Gratitude" work, spreading the spirit of compassion and deep gratitude to the families of martyrs.
