Nghe An - The Provincial Party Committee requested localities to study more plans to name commune-level administrative units after the arrangement according to historical and cultural factors.

On April 22, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee held a conference to approve the Project on rearranging and reorganizing commune-level administrative units in 2025. Accordingly, the province plans to reduce 282 commune-level administrative units, leaving 130 units (including 11 wards, 119 communes).

The Executive Committee acknowledged the efforts of Party committees, authorities and the Department of Home Affairs in developing the project on schedule, basically in accordance with the regulations of the Central Government and local realities.

Regarding the names after the arrangement, the province basically agreed on the plan to take local names associated with the serial numbers. However, in response to the reflections of cadres, party members and people, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee's Executive Committee proposed that localities consider studying the option of naming after historical sites and cultural traditions, on the basis of ensuring current regulations and high consensus.

The Provincial Party Committee assigned the Provincial People's Committee to receive comments and documents, complete the dossier to submit to the Ministry of Home Affairs for appraisal before May 1, 2025 and submit to the Provincial People's Council for approval at the thematic session scheduled to be held on April 28, 2025.

Along with that, Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations are required to focus on propaganda, organize to collect voters' opinions, complete the People's Council meeting at the commune level before April 24 and at the district level before April 25. The arrangement of cadres, handling of headquarters, public assets and organizing commune-level party congresses after the 2-level government model comes into operation from July 1, 2025 are also required to be carefully prepared.

Nghe An Provincial Party Committee emphasized the requirement to not interrupt operations, not leave tasks vacant, and at the same time promote the effectiveness of the commune-level government model after the arrangement, best serving people and businesses.
