Linking Chu Lai and Dung Quat will create a new development space

On July 24, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that it had worked with the working delegation of Da Nang city on the coordination of building the Chu Lai - Dung Quat - Nam Giang - East-West Economic Corridor 2 space linkage development project.

Accordingly, Da Nang and Quang Ngai are two adjacent localities in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions, with many complementary advantages in developing the marine economy, industry, logistics, energy, agriculture - forestry and services.

Dung Quat Economic Zone is oriented to develop basic industries such as oil refining and petrochemicals, chemicals, metallurgy, energy, materials and heavy machinery.

Meanwhile, Chu Lai Open Economic Zone focuses on developing manufacturing industry, automobiles, shipbuilding, precision mechanics, electronics, automation, supporting industries and processing of agricultural and forestry products.

The two economic zones will form a supply chain of raw materials - production - assembly - export according to a circular economic model, maximizing mutually beneficial advantages.

The linkage aims to create a sufficiently large economic scale, thereby improving competitiveness and overcoming the situation of scattered, fragmented and small-scale development.

In particular, Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and Dung Quat Economic Zone are conveniently connected by road, rail, seaport and airport transportation systems.

At the same time, the two economic zones are linked to the East-West Economic Corridor through Nam Giang International Border Gate and Bo Y International Border Gate, opening up a trade space with Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.

The governments of the two localities expect that the linkage will aim to build an open economic space, capable of strongly attracting domestic and foreign investment resources, contributing to the achievement of the double-digit GRDP growth target in the coming years.
