Hanoi warns of fraud targeting pension and social insurance benefits recipients

Hanoi - Warning against subjects impersonating officials, requesting pension and social insurance benefits recipients to install applications and provide personal information for fraud.

Hanoi City Public Administration Service Center has just issued a press release warning about the situation of subjects impersonating officials of the Center to defraud people during the peak period of supporting people receiving pensions and social insurance allowances to supplement power of attorney documents according to the provisions of the 2024 Social Insurance Law.

According to the Center, the peak period is implemented according to Plan No. 271/KH-UBND dated July 10, 2026 of the Hanoi City People's Committee. The Center coordinates with the City Social Insurance, People's Committees of communes, wards and Hanoi Post Office to organize support activities to ensure that the payment of pensions and social insurance allowances takes place continuously, in accordance with regulations, without interruption.

Hanoi City Public Administration Service Center affirmed that people only take online queue numbers through the iHanoi application. The Center does not require the installation of any other applications, does not request to provide OTP codes, passwords, bank account information or perform authentication operations on the phone through calls, messages or links sent by individuals claiming to be Center officials.

To ensure the rights and prevent fraudulent acts, the Center recommends that people do not download applications, software or access links sent via phone for registration, numbering or supplementing social insurance dossiers.

At the same time, people should absolutely not provide citizen identification numbers, bank account information, OTP codes, passwords or other personal information to any individual without clearly verifying their identity.

In case of needing support to carry out authorization procedures to receive pensions and social insurance allowances, people can contact Hotline 024. 1022, key 7 extension or go to the nearest public digital service support points for guidance.

For the elderly, vulnerable people, people with disabilities and policy families, the Center said it will coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and wards to organize free support at the place of residence according to the peak period's procedures.

According to the Hanoi City Public Administration Service Center, during home support, officers performing tasks always coordinate with local authorities, bring working documents according to regulations and directly guide people to prepare documents authorizing relatives to receive pensions and social insurance allowances.

People do not have to install applications, do not have to transfer money, do not have to provide OTP code or bank account information to carry out procedures.

The Center requests people, when detecting or suspecting cases of impersonating agencies to commit fraud, to immediately report to Hotline 024. 1022, switchboard 7 or notify the nearest police agency for guidance and handling according to regulations.
