Can Tho approves the policy of arrangement and merger with Soc Trang and Hau Giang

On April 25, the People's Council of Can Tho City met to pass a resolution on the policy of arranging provincial-level administrative units.

Accordingly, the policy of arranging provincial-level administrative units is approved, with some contents as follows:

Establish Can Tho City under the Central Government on the basis of merging administrative units of Soc Trang province, Hau Giang province and Can Tho City.

Can Tho administrative unit has a natural area of 6,400.83 km2, population of 4,061,292 people.

The number of administrative units is 103, including 31 wards and 72 communes.

Adjacent administrative units are Vinh Long province, Ca Mau province (after the arrangement), An Giang province (after the arrangement), Dong Thap province (after the arrangement).

The political - administrative center is located in the current city of Can Tho.

Can Tho City People's Council assigned the City People's Committee to complete the project dossier according to regulations to submit to the competent authority for consideration and decision.

Assign the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the Committees of the People's Council, the People's Council Delegation and the City People's Council Delegation to supervise the implementation of this Resolution.
