As a single mother, for nearly 40 years, Ms. Ly has been single-handedly taking on the task of raising her son suffering from Agent Orange sequelae, with limited health and working ability. Throughout those years, all activities and worries in the house depended on the mother's hands.

Life was already hard, but in recent years it has become even more difficult as the child has contracted many diseases, including diabetes and gout. The cost of buying medicine for monthly treatment has become a heavy burden. Old age and declining health have made Ms. Ly no longer able to work to generate income. The only source of livelihood for the two mothers and children currently depends on subsidies with a total amount of about 2.5 million VND per month.

That meager amount of money had to be managed in every way from food, electricity, water to medicine. Every time medical expenses arose in the house, Mrs. Ly had to save every penny. Fortunately, her younger brother also regularly cared for and supported her and her nephew within his ability.
