Uong Bi Ward Union aims to develop 600 more union members in the new term

Quang Ninh - On October 24, the Uong Bi Ward Trade Union held the 1st Trade Union Congress, term 2025 - 2030.

Attending and directing the congress were Mr. To Xuan Thao - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF), Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor; Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Ward People's Council.

The Uong Bi Ward Trade Union currently has 79 grassroots unions with 6,664 union members out of a total of 6,894 workers.

During the 2023 - 2025 term, the Trade Union has organized 2 supervision sessions on the implementation of the Grassroots Democracy Regulations and the Law on Labor Safety and Hygiene; the rate of negotiation and signing of collective labor agreements reached 82.6% (57/69 enterprises).

Activities to care for union members and workers have been effectively implemented. The "Union Member Welfare" program benefits 4,500 union members with a total value of more than 1.2 billion VND; supports the construction of 3 "Union Shelters" worth 165 million VND.

In particular, the programs "Workers' Month" and "Tet Sum Vay" have supported and presented gifts to 1,100 employees in difficult circumstances, worth 920 million VND.

The Congress set a goal of developing at least 600 more union members, 100% of enterprises with 25 or more employees to establish trade unions; 87% of units with trade unions negotiating and signing collective labor agreements; 85% of union members in need of consultation and labor disputes are supported by trade unions; 65% of workers at enterprises with trade unions participate in studying to improve their qualifications and professional skills.

In the new term, the Uong Bi Ward Trade Union will continue to perform well its function of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers; promote dialogue and collective bargaining, focusing on the contents of employment, wages, and occupational safety and hygiene. The Trade Union also determined to continue to innovate operating methods, increase the application of information technology, digital transformation and develop artificial intelligence (AI) in direction and management.
