Press Award "For the Cause of Great National Unity" selects 116 works for the final round

The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Journalists Association organized a meeting of the Final Council of the "For the Cause of Great National Unity" Press Award.

On September 11, Ms. Ha Thi Nga - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman - Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairwoman of the Final Council attended and spoke at the meeting. Also attending were Mr. Tran Thang - Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and members of the Final Council.

The 17th "For the Cause of Great National Unity" Press Award, 2025 - 2026, was launched by the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

As of July 31, 2026, the Organizing Committee has received 2,767 entries in 5 categories including print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio, television and press photos, from more than 100 press agencies at the central and local levels.

To select quality works, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front invited 16 experienced journalists who had participated in judging the National Press Award, press awards of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and many other prestigious press awards.

After two weeks of independent judging and 2 judging sessions, the Preliminary Examination Council selected 116 works for the final round. Among them, print newspapers had 32 works; electronic newspapers 41 works; radio 15 works; television 21 works and press photos 7 works.

According to the Preliminary Examination Council's assessment, the works closely follow the theme and criteria of the Award, many works are elaborately invested, have forms of expression in the direction of modern journalism, rich content, topicality and discovery.

Many articles focus on reflecting the changes in the organizational structure, activities close to the people, close to the people of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels; reflecting the political, cultural, socio-economic, defense, security and major events of the country, localities, regions from borders to islands, remote and isolated areas.

Some works reflect the feelings, aspirations and contributions of intellectuals, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, typical people in ethnic groups, and overseas Vietnamese to the great national unity bloc; and also mention the people's foreign affairs work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Many articles also focused on fighting and refuting false and reactionary arguments, contributing to protecting the great national unity bloc and promoting the forum role of the press for the People.

According to the plan, the Organizing Committee of the Award plans to structure 81 prizes, including Special Prizes if any, 5 A Prizes, 14 B Prizes, 29 C Prizes and 32 Consolation Prizes.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Ha Thi Nga acknowledged the active participation of central and local press agencies, and highly appreciated the continuous increase in the number of entries through many seasons.

Ms. Ha Thi Nga requested the Final Judging Council to closely follow the criteria, regulations and rules for judging, ensuring objective and comprehensive evaluation; focus on selecting works with elaborate, innovative, and creative forms of expression, suitable for each type of journalism.

The Final Council needs to pay attention to selecting works that are topical, discover new ideas, deeply and vividly reflect the major policies of the Party, the policies and laws of the State, and the action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in gathering, building and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc, with high theoretical and practical value and positive spillover effects in society" - Ms. Ha Thi Nga emphasized.
