Resolution of the 9th Vietnam Trade Union Congress

The Congress listened to the Executive Committee and the Inspection Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VIII term) presenting reports; listened to the speeches of Comrade Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Comrade Pham The Duyet, Chairman of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The Congress decided that the number of members of the Executive Committee of the IX term of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor would be 155, and at the Congress, the election of the Executive Committee of the IX term of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, 150, was conducted. The Executive Committee held the first session, elected the Presidium of 19 members, elected Comrade Cu Thi Hau, Member of the Party Central Committee, to hold the position of Chairman and 5 Vice Chairmen of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The Executive Committee elected the Inspection Committee of the IX term of the General Confederation of Labor, including 11 members, and elected Comrade Vu Khang, Member of the Presidium, as Chairman

After 4 days of urgent and serious work with a high sense of responsibility, the Congress focused on discussing and unanimously decided:

1. Approving the Report summarizing the term 1998 - 2003, directions and tasks for the term 2003 - 2008 of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VIII term) submitted to the IX Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.

2. Approving the full text of the Vietnam Trade Union Charter that has been supplemented and amended.

3. Approving the Report on the activities of the Inspection Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the term 1998 -2003.

4. Assign the Executive Committee of the 9th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to absorb the opinions of General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Comrade Pham The Duyet, Chairman of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the contributions of delegates to supplement and complete documents before promulgation. The Executive Committee of the 9th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, based on the Resolution of the Congress and Resolutions of the Party, guidelines and policies of the State, concretize them into action programs, specialized resolutions and direct Trade Union levels to implement them.

The Congress called on all cadres, union members and workers, civil servants, and laborers nationwide to promote the glorious tradition of the working class, uphold the spirit of solidarity and unity, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and be determined to bring the Resolution of the IX Vietnam Trade Union Congress into life, build a strong working class and trade union organization, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc, successfully implementing the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, for the goal of "Rich people, strong country, fair, democratic, and civilized society", steadily advancing towards socialism.
