Trade Union University welcomes 300 students to participate in distance learning university courses

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Manh Hung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Rector of the University of Trade Unions expressed that each student comes to the university lecture hall with a different circumstance and a different story.

Some have just graduated from high school; some are working; some have families and many responsibilities in life. But today, we all meet at one point in common: The desire to study and the desire to build a better future.

Therefore, you should be proud of your choice. Returning to school, regardless of age or circumstances, is a precious decision. We may start later, but it is never too late to study, to change and to rise up," he said.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Manh Hung said that in the context of science, technology and digital transformation strongly changing social life, distance education has a special meaning. According to the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 71-NQ/TW, education needs to be increasingly open, flexible, equal and create opportunities for each person to learn for life.

With distance learning, geographical distance is no longer a major barrier to accessing knowledge. Learners can study anytime, anywhere, proactively arranging between work, family and study.

This is an opportunity for each person to continue to improve their qualifications, perfect themselves and adapt to the increasing demands of the labor market.

The Rector of the University of Labor and Social Affairs said: Learning from afar does not mean learning is easier.

Technology can shorten the distance, but cannot shorten the path to adulthood. Schools and teachers can create an environment, provide knowledge and accompany them; but the person who decides how far they will go is still each learner," he said.

This year, the first phase of the distance learning university training program includes 6 majors: Law; Social Work; Labor Protection; Vietnamese Studies; Foreign Languages and Human Resource Management.

Representing first-round freshmen participating in the distance learning university training course, Phuong Dung said: "I believe that distance learning does not reduce the value of interaction between teachers and students. On the contrary, with technology and proactive learning spirit, we have more new ways to connect with teachers, friends and knowledge.
