HCMC overcomes difficulties to become an economic locomotive
HCMC - Over the past 50 years, the HCMC Party Committee has led the city to overcome all difficulties and challenges, building a leading city of development and integration.
That was the sharing of Ms. Pham Phuong Thao, former Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, at the Scientific Workshop "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of achievement in building, protecting and developing" held this morning (March 25.) in Ho Chi Minh City.
In her speech, Ms. Pham Phuong Thao affirmed that, promoting the tradition of resilience, dynamism, and creativity, over the past 50 years, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has led the city to overcome all difficulties and challenges, building a leading city for development and integration, making an important contribution to the country's innovation process.
Ms. Thao emphasized that the most serious challenge of the 10 years after the liberation period is overcoming the difficulties of the post-war period, in the context of being surrounded by embargoes, border wars... However, with the spirit of self-rescue, the city leaders have aroused the people's strength, experimented with innovating economic mechanisms and policies, created widespread movements and campaigns.
The story of "scraping the fence" in the production and distribution of goods has proven to be the standard of reality, and the creative ways of Ho Chi Minh City have become the "first breakthrough" in the innovation process.
When having a policy for innovation, Ho Chi Minh City has pioneered in industrialization, modernization and international integration, mobilizing resources, creating remarkable development in all fields. The appearance of the urban area is increasingly civilized and modern, with new urban areas being systematically planned.
Ho Chi Minh City is also a place with many creative models in economy, finance, banking, socialization of infrastructure investment, culture, education, healthcare, sports, administrative reform and proposals to build an urban government model.
Ms. Pham Phuong Thao emphasized that the success of Ho Chi Minh City is thanks to the joint efforts and consensus of the people and all classes of society, together healing the wounds of war, building the country. Emulation movements and campaigns have been strongly responded to by the people, contributing to the development of the city.
In particular, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the strength of solidarity, the solidarity of compatriots and soldiers nationwide, the close direction of the Central Government, the flexibility of the city leaders and the consensus of the people have helped Ho Chi Minh City recover quickly and overcome difficulties, Ms. Thao expressed.
Ms. Thao emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City always strives to promote its leading role, contributing to the development of the country. The city's Party Committee and people are making efforts to implement development goals, preparing to enter an era of national growth.
At the scientific conference, Mr. Huynh Dam, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, emphasized the great achievements of Ho Chi Minh City over the past 50 years, while affirming the role of solidarity, proactiveness, creativity and breakthrough in the development of the city.
Mr. Huynh Dam said that this workshop has a special meaning to look back on the past journey and prepare for entering the new era. He also highly appreciated the achievements that Ho Chi Minh City has achieved over the past half century, affirming that the city has the right to be proud of its great contributions to the development of the country.
HCMC has overcome countless difficulties and challenges to achieve historical significance, becoming the locomotive of the country and the region, towards the future of Asia, Mr. Huynh Dam emphasized.
These achievements, according to Mr. Huynh Dam, originate from the leadership of the Central Government, directly the Politburo, and from subjective factors such as solidarity, proactiveness, creativity, and breakthroughs. These are also the qualities forged from the resistance war to save the country.
Mr. Huynh Dam affirmed that solidarity is the decisive factor for the sustainable victory of the revolutionary cause in general and the 50 years of development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
To rise up and enter a new era, in addition to guidelines and institutions, it is necessary to innovate oneself and promote the strength of national solidarity, said Mr. Huynh Dam.
