Simultaneous construction of Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway in August
Nghe An - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requests urgent preparation to deploy synchronous construction of the entire Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway in August 2026.
On June 30, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai has just directed the urging of the implementation of the Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway construction investment project.
According to the assessment of the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, in the past time, the project has achieved many positive results thanks to the drastic involvement of the entire political system. The project held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 18, 2026; completed the excerpts and measurements of the entire route; the contractor has prepared machinery and camps for construction.
Land clearance work has many clear changes. In which, agricultural land has basically been handed over; Kim Lien and Van An communes have finalized the payment of compensation for residential land and garden land; the resettlement area in Hung Nguyen, Kim Lien, and Xuan Lam communes is expected to exceed the schedule. Kim Bang commune alone recorded outstanding results in a short time.
However, some tasks are still slow compared to the direction. Procedures for applying for approval of the policy of recovering defense land are still prolonged; the progress of site clearance and settlement of procedures for specialized material mines has not met requirements. The work of compensation for forestry land, residential land and resettlement construction in some localities is still slow and lacks decisiveness.
To achieve the goal of simultaneous construction on the entire route in August 2026, the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee requested localities, departments, branches, and related units to thoroughly overcome existing problems and focus on implementing key tasks.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned 9 communes including Hung Nguyen, Kim Lien, Dai Hue, Van An, Nam Dan, Xuan Lam, Hoa Quan, Son Lam, Kim Bang to focus highly on handing over land as committed. Regarding technical infrastructure, the Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee requested to select capable units; complete the relocation of medium and low voltage power grids before June 30, 2026; high-voltage power grids and telecommunications before August 30, 2026.
For each locality, Hung Nguyen Commune People's Committee must approve the compensation plan and pay for agricultural and forestry land to hand over the site before June 30, 2026; complete compensation payment for the remaining 4 households before July 2, 2026. The infrastructure of the resettlement area must be completed before June 30, 2026, and households must dismantle and hand over the site before August 30, 2026.
The Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway project is about 60km long, passing through 9 communes of Nghe An province. The project has a starting point connecting to the North - South expressway in the East, Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, and an ending point connecting to Thanh Thuy border gate economic zone. The expressway is invested with a scale of 4 complete lanes, site clearance according to a scale of 6 lanes, with a total investment of about 23,940 billion VND. When completed, the project is expected to contribute to forming the Hanoi - Vientiane expressway axis, increasing traffic connectivity, logistics and economic development of the western Nghe An region.
