The army is implementing the Project to build an Economic - Defense Zone of the Gulf of Tonkin until 2030 and the following years.

The Ministry of National Defense said that on the morning of January 13, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense - chaired a working session with Military Region 3 on the implementation of the Project to build the Northern Gulf Economic - Defense Zone.

The report at the conference showed that the Project to build the Gulf of Tonkin Economic - Defense Zone (BEZ) aims to build a marine economic development area closely linked to consolidating and enhancing national defense and security; effectively exploiting the potential and strengths of the Gulf of Tonkin sea and islands.

Thereby, stabilizing the population on the islands, forming and developing fishing logistics centers, fishing ports, seaports, storm shelters, and search and rescue areas. At the same time, focus on investing in infrastructure on islands with residents, ensuring a solid and solid national defense and security posture, contributing to firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San requested the Military Region 3 Command to urgently develop a plan to implement the project; organize the announcement of the opening and construction of the newly opened and built the Gulf of Tonkin Economic Zone according to the decision of the Minister of National Defense, ensuring close coordination with relevant localities, departments and branches.
