Waiting for the drug factory worth over VND500 billion in Lao Cai

The project "Factory for the production of medicinal herbs, new drugs and medical supplies" in Quang Kim commune, Bat Xat district of Vitamec Joint Stock Company was approved by Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board to adjust the investment policy on November 30, 2023.

Accordingly, the project's goal is to adjust in addition to the store of medicinal herbs and processing of medicinal products (processing, deep processing), the project also produces additional medical supplies (capacity of 26 tons/year), and produces new drug (capacity of 10 tons/year).

The project is invested on an area of 5.65 hectares, the total adjusted investment capital of the project is 536 billion VND, divided into 3 stages: Stage 1 is processing medicinal products, stage 2 is producing medical equipment, stage 3 is producing new drug products according to EU-GMP standards.

On April 6, according to Lao Dong, a large plot of land has been reclaimed to serve the project.

Through observation, the inter-commune traffic infrastructure system and national highways of Quang Kim commune and Bat Xat district have been invested in upgrading.

This facilitates people's travel and transportation of products for consumption to businesses located in the area.

Mr. Ly A Duan (67 years old, residing in Quang Kim commune, Bat Xat district) shared: "People in the commune are very excited to hear the government mention about the construction of a medicinal plant here. This not only helps create more jobs for people, but also helps consume medicinal herbs throughout the area. Therefore, when the land has been reclaimed, we hope the unit will soon deploy construction and put into operation".

According to Mr. Duan, in recent times, Quang Kim commune and Bat Xat district have been investing in upgrading traffic routes. Therefore, the movement of people and vehicles is very easy.

Local people also expressed their hope that the project worth more than 500 billion VND will soon complete procedures to implement construction. Thereby creating jobs and stable income for people in the commune.

It is known that this is a high-tech medicinal product processing project according to the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO), using modern, highly automated machinery and equipment that are currently widely applied in medicinal plant production in Vietnam.

According to Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board, the project will create jobs for more than 200 local workers with an average income of about 8 million VND/person/month.

The medicinal herb source for the project is mainly precious medicinal herbs of Lao Cai, neighboring areas and imports.

The factory will contribute to the consumption of medicinal herbs for the people, stabilizing concentrated medicinal herb growing areas, deeply processing medicinal herbs and enhancing the brand of valuable medicinal herbs in Lao Cai province.
