The underpass worth nearly 800 billion VND in Hanoi will be completed this year
Hanoi - Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass is under construction until the railway section. The project's progress has reached 60%, expected to be completed in 2025.
The Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass construction project (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) started construction in October 2022. The project has a total investment of 778 billion VND, invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
This is the 5th underpass in the capital built from 2009 to present, after the Kim Lien, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan, and Le Van Luong tunnels.
The Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass has a total tunnel and approach road length of 890m in the direction of Ring Road 2.5, of which the closed tunnel is 140m long and the open tunnel is 320m long. The section through the tunnel has 2 lanes each way, 3.5m wide/lane, the section outside the tunnel has 3 lanes each way, 3.5m wide/lane.
According to Lao Dong in mid-March, at the construction site of the Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass project, the investor and contractor mobilized many machines and construction workers spread across the entire project.
Mr. Do Duc Hung - an officer of Project Department 5, Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the overall progress of the Kim Dong underpass project has reached about 60%.
The tunnel section on the Dam Hong side has basically completed the main items. The site here is currently stuck with 6 organizations and 4 households in the area of Giap Bat and Thinh Liet wards.
The opening tunnel on the Kim Dong side has also been revealed. Currently, the contractor is focusing on constructing 3 closed tunnel sections across 6 existing railway lines.
"Up to now, contractors have completed 37/40 bored piles to prepare for the construction of the railway rack system, ensuring that the train is still operating safely when digging the tunnel below" - Mr. Hung said.
According to the contractor's calculation, it will take about 3 months to complete the construction of the railway safety value system. The biggest difficulty is that the construction of this railway safety system is only allowed to be constructed 4 hours/day and there is no fixed time.
"With the tunnel construction on the Kim Dong side and on Giai Phong Street, we are confident about the progress. With 3 tunnels on the Dam Hong side digging tunnels under 6 existing railway lines while the upper part still has to ensure safety for trains, we are not sure about the progress" - the project contractor representative shared.
According to this person, in the coming time, the contractor will complete the open tunnel sections on Kim Dong Street, rebuild the road on both sides of the tunnel until the entire layer of asphalt concrete is paved before April 30, 2025; complete the closed tunnel sections; retaining walls and embankments on the Red Dam side.
The route and works on the route (asphalt concrete pavement, sidewalk, tree, lighting, supply, drainage, traffic organization...) before August 31, 2025; complete the pumping station before October 31, 2025. The contractor strives to complete the project in 2025.
