Hanoi - Nearly 700 people with meritorious services and policy beneficiaries in Bach Mai ward have been consulted, health checked and given free medicine right in the locality.

Towards the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), the People's Committee of Bach Mai ward coordinated with medical units to organize a program of medical examination, health consultation and free medicine distribution for people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives in the area.

During the examination, doctors also conduct screening, early detection of potential diseases and advice on appropriate treatment directions. Cases requiring in-depth monitoring are guided to transfer to specialized medical facilities for continued treatment.

For many elderly people, having health check-ups right in their locality significantly reduces travel difficulties, while creating conditions for periodic health monitoring.

Having participated in the Southern battlefield, Mr. Nguyen The Hinh (Bach Mai ward) suffered injuries that caused him to lose one leg, making walking difficult. Although the wound has been gone for many years, he still occasionally has to endure subtle pain, affecting daily life.

At the age of 80, old age diseases are inevitable. Today participating in the program of medical examination and treatment for people with meritorious services and policy beneficiaries, I feel very happy and warm," Mr. Hinh shared.

Also participating in the program, Ms. Luong Thi Hong expressed her excitement when being comprehensively examined right in the residential area.

We were examined and consulted very carefully. At this age, travel is difficult, so having such a program is very practical. I feel more secure when my health is monitored and cared for right in the locality," Ms. Hong said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Dong Thi Phuc believes that free health check-ups are not only of medical significance but also have profound spiritual value for people who have experienced war.

What we are most happy about is that we always receive the attention of the State and localities for the losses of families with relatives participating in the revolution. Elderly health care policies have contributed to making the country better and better," Ms. Phuc shared.

During this examination, nearly 700 people with meritorious services and relatives of people with meritorious services in Bach Mai ward were given access to comprehensive health care services. People were given medical examinations, blood pressure measurements, electrocardiograms, ultrasounds, and tests as prescribed; and were consulted on nutrition, lifestyle, disease prevention and management of common chronic diseases in the elderly.

The activity affirms the coordinating role between local authorities and the health sector in people's health care, and at the same time expresses gratitude to the generations who sacrificed and contributed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
