Van Don Special Zone launches the construction of Green Island - Clean Island - Developing Island
Quang Ninh - On May 16, Van Don special zone launched the implementation of a project to propagate and mobilize people to protect the marine and island environment in the 2026-2030 period.
The launching ceremony program was organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Van Don special zone in Ngoc Vung island, Van Don special zone.
Van Don Special Zone currently has more than 600 islands, possessing great potential for marine economic development, tourism and high-quality services. However, along with the process of socio-economic development, tourism, aquaculture and seafood exploitation are creating great pressure on the marine and island environment.

According to the project, by 2030, 100% of island areas in the special zone will meet the criteria "Green Island - Clean Island"; no longer have prolonged waste residue points; the rate of waste collection and treatment will reach 95% or more; reduce over 80% of single-use plastic waste; 100% of households participate in environmental protection movements.

The project also aims to form green tourism, green economy and sustainable livelihood models on the islands.
For effective implementation, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Van Don Special Zone assigned socio-political organizations to be in charge of propaganda and mobilization at Ngoc Vung, Ban Sen, Minh Chau and Quan Lan islands.
