LĐCĐ 28/02/2025 16:52 (GMT+7)

On January 21, at Bien Hoa station, Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor organized the Trade Union - Spring 2025 Train program, sending more than 100 families of union members, workers and their relatives back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.

Attending were Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh; Vice President of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang and representatives of departments, branches and sectors in the province.

This year, the Trade Union - Spring 2025 Train was supported by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with nearly 2 billion VND to buy round-trip train tickets for workers working in the Southern provinces to the North to celebrate Tet.

This is a practical and meaningful activity organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for union members and workers in difficult circumstances or with outstanding achievements in labor and trade union activities under the Labor Federations of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Long An, Tay Ninh and the Vietnam Railway Trade Union with homeland in the northern provinces (from Da Nang and above), who want to return home to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025 and commit to return to work and work after the end of the Tet holiday.

Ms. Luc Thi Thai (from Bac Giang) went to Dong Nai to work as a worker. In recent years, her work has not been going smoothly, and after the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses have lacked orders. The female worker has continuously lost her job, no overtime, and she tries her best to only take care of two meals a day. The promise to return to her hometown every Tet holiday has been delayed over and over again.

"The day the union announced that I was given a free train ticket to return home, my child and I cried and could not sleep all night because we were looking forward to the day we returned home," Ms. Thai said emotionally.

Mr. Tong Van Sin (also from Bac Giang) has been working in Dong Nai as a wood producer in Tam Phuoc Industrial Park for 10 years. Due to difficult life, Mr. Sin has not had a complaint to return to his hometown to celebrate Tet for the past 4 years. This year, given a train ticket, he decided to take his whole family back to his hometown.

Every year, when I see my colleagues packing their belongings and returning to their hometown, I feel very sorry for myself. But each time I return to my hometown is expensive, while my income is not enough to cover my children's education and living expenses, so my family accepts to stay at a rented house to celebrate Tet. Working as a low-income worker, especially this year, the economy is in recession. When Tet comes, I can only sit and miss my hometown in tears. This year, I am very happy to receive a round-trip train ticket from the union, after many years I have been able to reunite in the love of my family during Tet, said Mr. Sin.

Ms. Thai and Mr. Sin are typical examples for hundreds of thousands of workers across the country who have to "scare" to find a way to make a living. After many years of hard work but still in difficulty, they had to celebrate Spring in their homeland.

At the program, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh, Vice President of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang and leaders of the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor met, wished a happy New Year and gave lucky money to 60 union members, workers and 50 relatives before boarding the train with the registration number TN4 to return home for Tet with their families. The train departed from Bien Hoa station at 12:00 on January 21, returning to Hanoi station.

To date, the Trade Union Train - Spring 2025 program of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has had nearly 2,000 registrants participate.

Of which, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has 495 people; the Binh Duong Provincial Labor Federation has 450 people; the Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation has 350 people; the Long An Provincial Labor Federation has 183 people; the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation has 56 people; the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Labor Federation has 200 people; the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has 16 people...

In Dong Nai alone, since December 2024, all levels of the Trade Union in Dong Nai province have prepared a plan to organize activities to care for the Lunar New Year 2025. It is expected that about 700,000 union members and workers will be supported for Tet, with a total cost of about 450 billion VND.

Of which, funds from Trade Union organizations at all levels account for about 380 billion VND, the province supports 30 billion VND for 30,000 workers, and enterprises contribute about 40 billion VND.

One of the outstanding activities is the program "Tet Reunion Train - Spring 2025", in which the Provincial Federation of Labor will support 1,000 train tickets for workers to return home for Tet.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Nhu Y - President of the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor, said: "The Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor always sets the goal of having a joyful and warm Tet for all union members and workers. Therefore, we have been implementing activities to take care of Tet in a practical way, ensuring that no one is left behind.

To ensure the rights of workers, the Dong Nai Provincial Trade Union also strengthens supervision of the implementation of business regimes and policies for workers, especially in the last days of the year. When problems arise in labor relations, the Trade Union will promptly coordinate with competent authorities to resolve them, ensuring that workers have a complete and warm Tet holiday with their families.

With these efforts, the Dong Nai Provincial Trade Union is contributing significantly to building a harmonious and stable working environment, helping workers feel secure, attached to the enterprise and have a spring full of hope.
