Lam Dong Labor Union expands women's union in non-state enterprises

Currently, Lam Dong Provincial Trade Union has 949 grassroots trade unions with nearly 90,000 union members and workers. Of which, female union members and workers account for over 50%.

According to Ms. Vu Thi Oanh - Vice President of Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation, female workers are mainly concentrated in the textile, tourism, agricultural processing, trade and service sectors. Most units and enterprises with a large number of female employees are outside the state sector, with relatively complex labor relations.

In that context, the role of grassroots trade unions is extremely important. The establishment of a women's union will help to represent, care for, and better protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of female workers," Ms. Oanh emphasized.

According to Ms. Oanh, in the 2025-2030 term, Lam Dong Provincial Trade Union aims to establish a women's union in 90% of qualified non-state grassroots trade unions according to the instructions of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

This goal is considered practical and feasible, because in recent times, women's union activities at all levels in the province have had many positive changes, bringing clear results.

Notably, the emulation movement "Good at public affairs, good at housework" is maintained regularly and has a wide influence.

Every year, over 80% of female union members and workers achieve this title at all levels; thousands of female union members and union officials with outstanding achievements in labor, production and movement activities are rewarded.

Through women's activities, the sense of responsibility, professional awareness and aspiration to rise up of female union members and workers in all fields are increasingly aroused.

In the coming time, Lam Dong provincial trade unions at all levels will continue to promote the role of women's unions at the grassroots level, promote the development of advanced models, good models, and creative ways of doing things. Thereby improving the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of female workers.
