Continuing the spirit of International Labor Day May 1st, Workers' Month has been implemented nationwide since 2012 according to the Conclusion of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee. The Action Month on OSH was launched in 2017 according to the Prime Minister's Decision.

2026 is the 6th year that the Central Steering Committee for the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health has coordinated with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to simultaneously launch the Workers' Month and the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health nationwide. This is also the first year that a national launching ceremony is held locally and is hosted by Quang Ninh province.

With the theme "Vietnamese Workers: Innovation, improving labor productivity", Workers' Month 2026 continues to be deployed synchronously and widely in trade union levels with key activities:

First, promote the "May Dialogue" Program and the "Union Members Contributing Opinions to Building Vietnam Trade Unions in the New Era" Forum, thereby promoting democracy, listening to the thoughts and aspirations of workers to complete the documents of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress and the Trade Union organization model to meet the requirements of the new situation.

Second, organize the "Labor Skills - Sustainable Employment" Day, to equip and improve professional skills, adapt to the labor market in the context of digital transformation and deep integration.

Third, organize the Peak Month to promote the innovation movement, promote initiatives, technical improvements, and application of technology, directly contributing to improving labor productivity and competitiveness of businesses and the economy.

Fourth, organize a peak month of union member development, establish grassroots trade unions, and introduce outstanding trade union members for Party fostering and admission.

At the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour level, a series of activities are organized, notably the Ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1), associated with commending outstanding grassroots Trade Union Presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation work in 2026 taking place on April 27-28 in Hanoi Capital. Along with that is a conference to summarize 5 years of implementing Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW of the Politburo, commending advanced examples in studying and following Uncle Ho in the period 2023-2025; opening the 2026 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, contributing to improving spiritual life and building a healthy cultural environment among union members and workers.

Through the above activities, Workers' Month 2026 will continue to strongly spread the spirit of innovation and creativity, arouse the aspiration to contribute in each worker, and make positive contributions to the country's double-digit growth target.

Previously, on April 23, in Quang Ninh, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized a workshop "Trade Unions innovate and improve the effectiveness of OSH work in the digital age" in response to the Action Month on OSH 2026. The workshop focused on discussing many important contents such as: the current situation of policies and laws on OSH; application of digital technology in management; occupational disease prevention and control; such as the role of trade union organizations in managing labor risks.

On the afternoon of April 23, a working delegation led by Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu, along with leaders of the Quang Ninh Provincial Confederation of Labor, visited, presented gifts, and encouraged families of workers and laborers who suffered labor accidents in Quang Yen and Cao Xanh wards.
