Union officials devoted to the interests of workers

One of the outstanding typical individuals in the emulation movements is Mr. Ngo Truong Huy - Chairman of the Trade Union, Head of the Human Resources Administration Department of Thu Duc - Long An Linh Concrete Joint Stock Company (Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation). Mr. Huy received the Nguyen Van Linh Award in 2024. Having worked in the Trade Union for many years, Mr. Huy understands the hardships and difficulties of workers. Therefore, he is always proactive and actively advises on taking care of the spiritual and material life of the most valuable assets of the business.

Mr. Huy advised, submitted opinions and was approved by the company's leaders to build a housing area for officers and employees in 2012. The apartment complex has been officially put into operation with 38 rooms, each room is 14 square meters. Officials, employees, and workers only pay for living expenses such as electricity, water, etc.

The company does not collect rental fees and prioritizes subjects such as workers living far away, couples working together at the company. At the Company, Mr. Huy is a person who is constantly creative, always innovates and seeks solutions to improve the quality of life for workers. One of them is the hammock house model.

According to Mr. Huy, this model is implemented to help workers have a place to rest after work. When put into use, the hammock house is arranged behind the company's parking area with 2 rows with 160 hammocks and is equipped with a fan system, hot and cold water heaters.

From the experience, responsibility and affection of a union cadre for workers, Mr. Huy shared: There are two important factors to do a good job of the Union, which is passion and closeness, understanding of workers to build trust. Trade unions must promote their role as a bridge between workers and leaders, while protecting legitimate and legal rights and interests as well as proposing policies that benefit workers.

Experience in organizing emulation movements

Discussing the experience of organizing emulation movements on key national projects of the Electricity sector, Mr. Do Duc Hung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union - said that emulation is not only an activity to encourage and motivate the movement but also an important driving force, an effective management and organization method to improve productivity and quality in all areas of social life.

Because they do this well, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union is one of the typical advanced collectives in emulation movements. In recent years, the Electricity sector has been assigned to simultaneously implement many projects of strategic significance for socio-economic development and ensuring national energy security. Most prominent and iconic is the 500kV Line 3 Project from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen).

This is the largest project in the history of the Electricity industry in terms of total route length, number of pole foundation locations, construction volume and terrain complexity. Along with this project, cadres, union members, and workers in the Electricity sector also carry out many other projects. All projects have been completed on schedule and ahead of schedule, becoming a bright spot in the emulation movement.

There are many emulation movements organized and implemented on the projects. Thereby mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system, local governments, people in the project area and especially the high determination of the workforce.

From reality, Mr. Hung gave some experiences: First of all, emulation movements are only effective when there is strong and synchronous participation from Party committees, professional leaders to trade unions at all levels. Directing must be clear in goals, roadmaps, and responsibilities.

In particular, Mr. Hung emphasized: Emulation movements will be truly effective when associated with specific goals. A typical example is the emulation movement of the 500kV Line 3 circuit, building specific emulation criteria such as "Fastest progress - Best quality - Best safety - Best savings - Best care for life".

Or in the emulation movement "Accelerating the investment and construction progress of EVN's key projects in 2025", the emulation content is concretized with the theme "Three pioneers, Two responsibilities": Pioneering in infrastructure, Pioneering in completing progress, Pioneering in overcoming difficulties; Responsibility for ensuring quality, Responsibility for saving, fighting waste. The more specific the goal, the clearer the effectiveness.

Another experience of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union in effectively organizing emulation movements is that emulation must be associated with caring for workers' lives. The spirit of competition only truly spreads and is sustainable when workers feel a real concern for working conditions, care for material and spiritual life, and are rewarded for their efforts.
