Vietnam proposes to start construction of Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway in 2025

On April 14, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made a number of proposals on the direction and focus of cooperation in the coming time.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the two sides will improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation in all fields, including giving high priority to railway cooperation, especially in credit, technology transfer and human resource training, and soon signing an ODA loan agreement to start construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong route in 2025 and then the Dong Dang - Hanoi, Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong railway lines;

Promote balanced and sustainable trade development, creating conditions for Vietnam's agricultural products and other products to be exported to China; promote cooperation in developing new productive forces, focusing on science - technology, innovation and digital transformation;

There will soon be major projects that are symbolic of the bilateral relationship in Vietnam; create new bright spots in environmental resource cooperation, monetary finance; further deepen cultural, educational, tourism, and aviation cooperation; enhance exchanges and coordination at multilateral frameworks.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping expressed his delight at the good results achieved in the in-depth talks with General Secretary To Lam, and the two sides also signed more than 40 cooperation documents, with very substantial and comprehensive content, creating many results for the visit. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping highly appreciated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's important contributions to promoting cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping welcomed and highly appreciated the opinions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on measures to strengthen relations between the two Parties and the two countries, hoping that the two sides will promote good exchange mechanisms, especially the Steering Committee for bilateral cooperation; cooperation on Party, Government, National Assembly channels, between key ministries such as diplomacy - defense - public security;

Grasp the opportunities for development in the field of science and technology, take advantage of the close land gap between the two countries to exploit the potential for economic cooperation and develop industries; actively promote the railway cooperation mechanism between the two countries;

Affirming China's readiness to expand imports of Vietnamese agricultural products, supporting Chinese enterprises to increase high-quality investment in Vietnam;

Propose that the two sides organize well activities within the framework of the Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year; deploy Red Journey tourism routes, strengthen cooperation in the fields of education and health to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries;

Requesting ministries and branches of both sides to proactively and actively implement cooperation projects; appropriately control disagreements according to the common perception of senior leaders, promote cooperation at sea, and jointly maintain peace and stability in the region and the world.
