Traffic violations will result in documents being retained immediately on VNeID
Hanoi - In addition to directly handling traffic violations, the Traffic Police (CSGT) - Hanoi City Police will issue fines through the digital environment via the VNeID application.
On April 16, at the Giai Phong - Dai La intersection (Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi), the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 4, Traffic Police Department handled violations such as riding a motorbike on the sidewalk, going in the wrong direction and running a red light.
One of the reasons for the violation is that in this area, vehicles are allowed to turn right from Dai La Street to Giai Phong. However, at some times, vehicles stop waiting for traffic lights but are not in the correct location, causing local congestion. Many impatient motorbike drivers deliberately walked onto the sidewalk to get through the congestion.
Lieutenant Colonel Tu Ngoc Minh, an officer of Traffic Police Team No. 4, said: The act of driving in the wrong direction and driving motorbikes on the sidewalk not only endangers traffic participants but also causes public outrage. Currently, the fine for these acts ranges from 4 to 6 million VND. This is a manifestation of disregard for the law, a violation of traffic awareness and needs to be strictly handled.
During the morning shift on April 16, the working group detected and handled 10 violations, including 2 cases of going in the wrong direction and 8 cases of driving motorbikes on the sidewalk. All documents were temporarily detained via the VNeID application.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Trung - Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 4 said that keeping documents via VNeID instead of temporarily detaining the vehicle helps avoid cumbersome procedures such as sealing and storing the vehicle. Previously, there were many cases of violations of leaving their vehicles behind due to fines higher than the value of the property. With the new method, this behavior has decreased significantly, said Lieutenant Colonel Trung.
According to the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, from March 15, 2025 to present, the authorities have temporarily detained 5,614 violating vehicles, revoked 656 driving licenses, and deducted 2,130 points from driving licenses. Of these, 300 cases ran red lights, 264 cases entered prohibited roads or went in the wrong direction...
In the coming time, the Traffic Police Department will continue to strengthen the handling of acts considered "faulty awareness" when participating in traffic, including riding motorbikes on the sidewalk, going in the wrong direction, running short-term, driving in the wrong lane and stopping and parking in violation of regulations...
