HCMC merges 3 departments into the Department of Construction

On the afternoon of April 14, at the 2nd Conference of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Party Committee, Director of the Department of Home Affairs Vo Ngoc Quoc Thuan said that the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee had an important conclusion on reorganizing specialized agencies under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

One of the notable contents is the merger of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction into the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction.

At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City will not establish the Department of Planning and Architecture as previously proposed by the City Party Committee's Organization Committee. "Thus, the three departments will now be merged into one, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction" - Mr. Thuan emphasized.

The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also agreed to change the name of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to the Department of Agriculture and Environment.

At the same time, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City will be merged into the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, contributing to streamlining the unit and enhancing connectivity between administrative agencies.

Previously, at the 21st session, the 10th term of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (term 2021 - 2026) passed a resolution on the establishment and reorganization of a number of specialized agencies under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Establish the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction on the basis of merging the Department of Construction and the Department of Planning and Architecture.

Establish the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport from reorganizing the Department of Transport, and at the same time receiving some technical infrastructure management functions from the Department of Construction and the Standing Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Safety Committee.

Establish the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City on the basis of merging with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

It is expected that tomorrow afternoon (September 15), the 39th Conference of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Executive Committee will be held to discuss the project to reorganize administrative units at all levels and build a model of organizing local government at 2 levels.
