General Secretary To Lam emphasized this content during a meeting with revolutionary veterans, meritorious people, and exemplary policy families on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), afternoon of April 15 in Hanoi.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam said that the Central Government has identified 3 key tasks that need to be implemented from now until 2030.

Improve the lives of people, especially workers, to meet the increasingly higher needs for the material and spiritual life of the people, all for the people.

The General Secretary said that the 11th Central Conference had just ended on April 12. In particular, the Central Executive Committee highly agreed on the contents related to the arrangement of the apparatus of the political system and the arrangement of administrative units of local government organizations at 2 levels.

Regarding preparations for the 14th National Party Congress, the General Secretary said about the basics of the draft content of the basic documents that have been completed. These documents will be sent to Party organizations for comments and then widely consulted with all classes of people.

"So that the Party's documents can truly enter the hearts of the people, representing the legitimate rights and interests of the people, for the free, prosperous and happy life of the people. Let the document be a guideline to make the country more and more stable, developed and improve the lives of the people" - the General Secretary emphasized.

The trio needs to be eliminated

General Secretary To Lam also said that after General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, there were also some people worried that the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity would decline and be forgotten, but in reality, the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity was still implemented resolutely, synchronously, comprehensively, methodically, in depth, without any forbidden areas, without exceptions.

The Politburo and the Secretariat highly agreed on the policy of continuing to promote the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity and decided to add content to prevent and combat waste, creating a trio that needs to be eliminated, which is corruption, waste and negativity - General Secretary To Lam emphasized.

The General Secretary said that this decision creates a great deterrent and warning. This work will continue to be carried out resolutely, persistently, and continuously.

The Politburo has also added the functions and tasks of preventing and combating waste to the Central Steering Committee and the provincial level, focusing on directing the prevention and combat of waste in the management and use of public finance and public assets.

In the coming time, we also need to have a movement for the whole people to practice thrift and fight waste in life, each family, each person, because waste in society is still very large.

The General Secretary said that in the past time, prosecution agencies nationwide have prosecuted and investigated more than 6,000 cases and over 13,000 defendants, prosecuted 5,040 cases and 13,519 defendants; tried 5,134 cases, 11,718 defendants for corruption and economic crimes. Of which, 1,197 new cases and 4,811 defendants have been prosecuted for corruption.

Party committees and Inspection Committees at all levels have disciplined 107 party organizations and 3,209 party members; disciplined 70 cadres under the management of the Central Government, including 28 Central Committee members and former Central Committee members, including 3 key leaders, 3 Deputy Prime Ministers, 6 Ministers, 10 Secretaries, former Secretaries of City Party Committees and Provincial Party Committees, 11 Deputy Ministers, former Deputy Ministers, 26 Chairmen, former Provincial Chairmen, 4 Deputy Secretaries, former Standing Deputy Secretaries at the provincial level.

Referring to the content on waste, the General Secretary emphasized: "Wasting is also a very alarming issue. In some aspects, waste causes more damage than corruption and negativity"

Giving numbers and reports on wasteful projects, the General Secretary cited evidence that hundreds of high-value projects are facing difficulties and are being stalled.

These projects not only cause damage and waste money but also cause damage to other social fields that cannot be fully calculated in money.

The General Secretary affirmed that the Party will continue to fight against corruption, waste and negativity with a determined and resolute spirit, without any forbidden areas or exceptions.

General Secretary To Lam also noted that in the process of organizing Party Congresses at all levels, restructuring the administrative system, arranging cadres, relocating agency headquarters, not organizing at the district level, reorganizing at the commune level, the situation of "dead-and- gone water" and "bright night and morning" will not be ruled out for corruption, waste and negativity.

Therefore, the main responsibility of the political system, of the Steering Committee for preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity at the central and provincial levels is very great.
