Ca Mau province will have 4 wards and 35 communes after the arrangement
Ca Mau - On the afternoon of April 16, Ca Mau province approved the plan to reorganize commune-level units.
Before the arrangement of administrative units, Ca Mau province had 100 commune-level administrative units including 82 communes, 9 wards and 9 towns.
After the arrangement, there were 39 commune-level units (35 communes and 4 wards) - a decrease of 61% compared to the current number of commune-level administrative units.
According to the plan, Ca Mau city will have 4 wards with names no longer in order but the wards: An Xuyen ward, Ly Van Lam ward, Tan Thanh ward, Hoa Thanh ward.
The central communes of Ca Mau province have the names of district-level units such as: Dam Doi, Phu Tan, Tran Van Thoi, U Minh, Nam Can, Cai Nuoc, Thoi Binh. Currently, Ngoc Hien district alone has Phan Ngoc Hien commune, and there is no commune-level unit named Ngoc Hien.
According to the leader of Ca Mau province, Phan Ngoc Hien is the name of a historical figure, so the administrative unit should keep the correct surname and name instead of the name Ngoc Hien as before.
Ca Mau province does not have any wards or communes named Ca Mau because according to Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW, dated April 12, 2025, the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, Ca Mau merged with Bac Lieu, named Ca Mau, the administrative - political center located in the current Ca Mau province.
Ca Mau also develops a plan, roadmap for arranging staff, working headquarters, and plans for new commune-level administrative units to collect opinions according to regulations.
