Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chairs welcoming ceremony for Ethiopia Prime Minister

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife went to the car door to pick up Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and his wife.

After receiving a bouquet of fresh flowers from Hanoi children, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh walked with the students waving the welcoming of the Vietnamese and Ethiopia national flags in their hands.

When the two leaders stepped onto the podium of honor, under the national flags of the two countries, the national anthems of Ethiopia and Vietnam were sung. In a solemn atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali stepped forward to greet the national flags of the two countries.

In the majestic music, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali to congratulate the Honor Guard to join the Vietnam People's Army. After that, the two Prime Ministers introduced to each other members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony; and witnessed the welcoming parade of the Honor Guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

After the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers traveled to the Government Headquarters to hold talks.

Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and his wife Zinash Tayachew are on an official visit to Vietnam and attending the 4th Summit of the Partnership for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) from 14.11.

The visit of Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and his wife was at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife.

Accompanying the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali and his wife on an official visit to Vietnam were: Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos; Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente; Minister of the Government's Communications Service Agency Legesse Tulu Adera; Minister - Prime Minister Advisor on macroeconomics Teklewold Atnafu; Minister of Social Policy, Prime Minister Advisor, Daniel Kibret Birhane;

Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano; Secretary of State of the Ministry of Finance, Eyob Tekalign; Commissioner of the Industrial Park Development Agency (IPDC) Fisseha Yitagesu; Secretary of State, Chief of Office of Prime Minister Sandokan Debebe; Secretary of State, Press Secretary Billene Seyoum; Secretary of State in charge of the ceremony, Ambassador Betreistu Meng Meng;

Ethiopia Ambassador to South Korea to concurrently hold Vietnam Dessie Dalkie Dukamo; Assistant to Prime Minister Biniam Fantahun sendeku.

The official visit to Vietnam by Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and his wife is the first visit to Vietnam by a senior Ethiopia leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976, and the first high-level delegation exchange between the two countries in 7 years.

Vietnam and Ethiopia established diplomatic relations on February 23, 1976, and are looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026.

Ethiopia recognized Vietnam as a market economy in 2014. Two-way trade turnover between the two countries in the past 4 years has remained at 10-15 million USD per year.
